The engine penalties have taken a break in Hungary, perhaps due to the nature of the circuit, and Lewis Hamilton takes his pole position with no grid changes behind him. Vettel lines up third, with Ricciardo behind splitting the Ferrari pair. At the rear of the field, Marcus Ericsson outqualified his Sauber teammate, whilst Robert Merhi got the best of the Manor battle.

At Lotus, Romain Grosjean outqualified his teammate by half a second, but it was the difference between starting inside the top ten - and not having free tyre choice - and starting lower down the order with more selections to be made.
