If the previous practice and qualifying sessions indicated this weekend was going to be a predictable Mercedes walkover, then the race turned that entirely on its head. Both Hamilton and Rosberg got off to a difficult start, allowing the two Ferrari drivers to get ahead of them, and from there, things never calmed down.

Nico Hülkenberg suffered a front wing failure down the home straight which scattered debris and brought out the safety car. Daniel Ricciardo collided with at least two other drivers but survived to join his teammate Dany Kvyat on the podium. Sebastian Vettel swept into the lead off the line and clung on to the position to take his second win of the season.

McLaren managed to get both their cars not only to the end of the race but also in the points, whilst Verstappen picked up a solid fourth place to prove yet again what a promising talent he is.
