Free Practice 1 results - Chinese Grand Prix 2015 - Hamilton fastest as Palmer debuts in the Lotus

Mercedes locked out the top of the timesheets with Lewis Hamilton leading teammate Nico Rosberg. The colder conditions of a Shanghai morning saw drivers struggling for grip although there were no major incidents. Jolyon Palmer made his debut for Lotus, taking over Romain Grosjean's car for the first Friday session. He finished 15th overall.

Also at the rear of the field, Jenson Button was marginally quicker than Fernando Alonso, and the Manor drivers suffered no issues although they were both more than three seconds slower than those in front of them.
