Starting grid - Canadian Grand Prix 2015 - Verstappen and Button suffer hefty penalties

Max Verstappen and Jenson Button have both found themselves with 15 place grid penalties for the Canadian Grand Prix, with neither able to take the full drop after qualifying. Verstappen already had a five place penalty hanging over him from the collision with Grosjean in Monaco, and a further ten places were imposed after an engine change.

Button, who couldn't participate in qualifying due to his own engine change, was given special dispensation to race, but was also handed a 15 place overall drop. As he didn't actually qualify, the sanction has to be converted into a drive through penalty in the race. The stewards also saved a five place drop for Vettel, who was found to have overtaken a Manor car under red flag conditions during free practice.

5 place drop for Max Verstappen. Car 33 caused the collision with car 8 in turn 1 at the previous event, Monaco.
5 place drop for Sebastian Vettel. Car 5 overtook car 98 between turn 12 and 13 whilst red flags were displayed during practice. (3 penalty points awarded, 3 points total for the 12 month period).
10 place drop for Max Verstappen. A 5th internal combustion engine has been used. A 10 grid position penalty is imposed, as this is the first time a 5th power unit element has been used.
15 place drop for Jenson Button. A 5th Turbo Charger, and 5th MGU-H have been used. A 10 grid position penalty is imposed, as this is the first time a 5th power unit element has been used, and a further 5 grid position penalty is imposed as this is the first time a 5th of any of the remaining elements is used.
