It was Lewis Hamilton's turn to post the fastest lap of the session, during final practice in Spa. Mercedes locked out the top two spots of the grid, whilst McLaren were destined to prop up the rear of the timesheets again. Already, both Button and Alonso are facing multiple grid drops due to engine change penalties, but final practice didn't help them either.

Alonso completed just one installation lap and didn't set a time after that, whilst Button did 12 laps but could only scoop into 17th position. Romain Grosjean was just ahead of him, the Lotus driver complaining of being held up by Kimi Räikkönen on his fastest lap.
