Rosberg made it two sessions in a row at the top, but it wasn't smooth sailing for the German driver. He set the time early on, but towards the end of the session suffered a rear-tyre blow-out that put him into a spin. Thankfully for the Mercedes crew, Rosberg kept the car out of the barriers, but he did bring out the red flags whilst the car was recovered.

It was only ten minutes after the session resumed that the red flags were out once more, as Sauber driver Marcus Ericsson crashed into the barriers after running wide off track. He still managed the 8th fastest time, ahead of teammate Felipe Nasr.
