Lewis Hamilton increased his lead over the rest of the field, with the defending champion almost on 100 points after just four races. Nico Rosberg moved into second with a single point advantage over Sebastian Vettel, whilst Kimi Räikkönen moved into fourth with some work still to do to catch his teammate.

Three drivers sit on six points apiece, with the two Toro Rosso drivers unable to make any progress in Bahrain following a double DNF for the team. Other gains were made by Daniel Ricciardo and Sergio Pérez, and Fernando Alonso also moved up a position - although both he and Jenson Button remain on zero points at this point in the season.
