Ruth Buscombe earned a distinction in her university degree and has impressed throughout her Formula One career so far. After spending time at Ferrari as a factory-based race strategist, she joined the new Haas team to take up a trackside position. When Sauber started looking for new talent, Buscombe joined the squad towards the end of the 2016 season.

Biography

After earning a Masters degree in Aerospace and Aero Thermal Engineering at Cambridge University, Buscombe immediately started working in Forrmula One, joining the Ferrari team in 2012 as Simulations Development Engineer. This role required improving the algorithm, design and development of the simulators used by the drivers.

In 2013, Ruth moved to the strategy team, becoming a race strategist based back at the factory at Maranello. After the 2015 season, she joined the brand new Haas F1 Team, earning her place as a trackside strategists and helping the team get their season off to a great start. However, before the end of the year, she had moved to Sauber.

Joining the team at the same time as Xevi Pujolar, as the squad were shoring up their employee line-up having found investment, Buscombe became Senior Strategy Engineer and was once again sitting on the pit wall to help the team start improving their results. Alongside her role within Formula One, she joined the Dare To Be Different campaign as an ambassador to support female talent within motorsport.
