Boccafogli has an extensive background in communications, media, PR and broadcasting, all within the motorsport industry. The Italian made his way up through magazines, before joining Pirelli on and off for many years. He has commentated and analysed motorsport events for TV broadcasters, and most recently became Head of F1 Communications for the Pirelli outfit.

Biography

Roberto Boccafogli attended the University of Bologna to study languages, and he started his career as a journalist for the Autosprint magazine in the early 1980s. He worked his way up the ladder and was promoted to become the Head of Motorsports Editor at the company, before departing for Pirelli.

He was a consultant for the Italian tyre manufacturer, advising on PR and Communication strategies for all their motorsport activities. He moved away from the company role for a brief stint spent at Sky Italia commentating on F1 races, before returning to Pirelli as Head of Communications.

Another stint away from the company involved a return to Autosprint as Chief Editor, as well as some more time spent commentating and editing live slow-motion footage for Rai Sport broadcasters. Finally, in 2014, he rejoined Pirelli as their head of F1 Communications, where he remains, alongside a continuing studio role at Rai.
