Loyal to the Ferrari squad since leaving university in 1995, Binotto has worked his way up the Scuderia’s engine and technical departments, working as a test and race engineer, head of engine operations and chief engineer. With yet another reshuffle taking place at Ferrari midway through 2016, Binotto stepped up to the Chief Technical Officer position.

Biography

Born in Switzerland, Binotto has spent his whole career with the Ferrari team in Italy. After securing a masters degree in engineering in Modena, Binotto joined Ferrari as a test engineer in 1995, joining the race team two years later.

Focusing on engine performance and development, in 2007, Binotto was promoted to the role of Chief Engineer and two years later he became Head of Engine and KERS Operations.

Having survived several technical reshuffles, and continuing his progression up the ladder, Binotto moved through a deputy director role to become chief operating officer of the power unit department. When James Allison parted ways with Ferrari midway through the 2016 season, Binotto was promoted to the Chief Technical Officer role.
