Luigi Fraboni has worked for Ferrari for many years, concentrating on the engine side of things. He’s worked closely with Shell, both in terms of engineering and media appearances. Partly in response to the regulation overhaul in 2014, putting the emphasis on the power unit Fraboni took on more responsibilities, including taking part in Friday press conferences.

Biography

Fraboni's degree in Mechanical Engineering helped him develop an interest in Ferrari, as he wrote his thesis about the Italian manufacturer. After graduation and military service, Fraboni worked for Magneti-Marelli, who supplied Ferrari with parts for their F1 team. He moved to Ferrari working in data analysis, before switching to the design and aerodynamics side of things.

Requesting a more track-based role, Fraboni became a test team engineer, and managed Michael Schumacher's engine and power train at the races. He also engineered for Kimi Räikkönen, before taking on further design tasks. He's participated in work with Shell, ensuring the partnership between engine developer and fuel supplier works smoothly.

Fraboni was a late substitute for the Bahrain press conference in 2014, representing Ferrari in the team personnel discussions on Friday. He has taken a more active role in the team with the change in regulations putting more focus on the power unit design and reliability.
