Dave Greenwood worked his way up the F1 engineering ladder, starting out as a mechanic with the BAR Honda team, and gradually moving up to become Chief Engineer at Marussia. He helped the team score their first championship point but sadly Marussia folded at the end of 2014. Greenwood moved to Ferrari and was assigned as Race Engineer to Kimi Räikkönen.

Biography

Greenwood spent just over four years with the BAR Honda team, working as a Vehicle Dynamicist for the Brackley-based outfit. He moved through Renault and then on to Virgin Racing in 2010. As Race Engineer for the Virgin team, Greenwood was tasked with ensuring each weekend went according to plan. When Marussia took control of the team, Greenwood was promoted to Chief Engineer, taking a more hands on approach to the entire racing process.

With tasks including liaising with drivers, designers, team bosses and the media, he helped the team transition from a fully CFD researched company to one that included wind tunnels in their design process. Greenwood was a regular figure in the Friday Press Conferences, up until the end of the 2014 season, when the Marussia team went into administration three races before the end of the year.

David moved over to Ferrari, becoming Race Engineer for Kimi Räikkönen, in an effort to improve communications between the Finnish driver and the pit wall.
