Biography

With the passion of Frank Williams and the family-orientated nature of the team, it was always going to be a career in motorsport waiting for Claire Williams. She secured a degree in politics just before the turn of the millennium, but took her first main job as press officer for the Silverstone Circuit in 2000.

Having an extensive background of working for the Williams team during school holidays and growing up within the family environment of the legendary team, Claire soon accepted a full-time position as Communications Officer, based at the factory back in Grove. She moved up to Head of Communications in 2010 after eight years, and when Williams was floated on the stock exchange in 2011, Claire’s role expanded to include Investor Relations.

In 2012, Claire became a Director and took up a position on the board. One year later, she was announced as deputy team principal, helping support and assist her father with the every day running of the team. A common spokesperson for the team, Claire is involved with the long term development of the outfit, focusing on improving their performance after a run of disappointing seasons.

As part of the Queen's 2016 birthday honours list, Claire was given an OBE for her services to motorsport, which she picked up from Buckingham Palace in January 2017.
