With over twenty years of experience in Formula One, and all of it loyal to the Sauber squad, Beat Zehnder is a familiar face in F1 circles. He keeps a low profile but has been team manager for the Swiss outfit since 1995 and can often be spotted back at the factory, working hard, or present at races to see his efforts come to fruition.

Biography

Beat Zehnder has been a part of the Sauber family for many, many years. He joined as a mechanic in the early days of the team's partnership with Mercedes Benz, moving from the second mechanic to the first in the space of a single year.

When the team began to concentrate their efforts on launching their own F1 team, Zehnder moved across from the mechanical department to work on logistics. However, he was quick to return to the garages, becoming the team manager and chief mechanic in 1994.

After one year, he dropped the mechanic role once more and concentrated solely on managing the team - a position he has held since 1995. He is often back at the factory working, but does visit the race track and participates in press conferences on occasion.
