F1 biography

Buemi was signed as Toro Rosso's test and reserve driver in the 2008 season, and got a small taste of the weekend's action by being asked to drive the medical car when the regular driver was unwell. He was promoted to the race seat at Toro Rosso in 2009, and completed three full seasons for the team, with his best result two seventh places.

When Toro Rosso ditched both their drivers to start afresh in 2012, Buemi was signed to the senior Red Bull team as a reserve driver, but turned most of his attention to finding a seat in another series, joining Toyota and their sportscar squad. Buemi remained as a test driver for Red Bull until the end of 2015, whilst also participating in the Formula E series. He won the Formula E championship with the Renault e.Dams team during the 2015/16 season.
