In 2011, he took to his first single seater series, heading back to France for the F4 Championship. He also participated in Formula Renault Eurocup and the Northern European Cup, as well as Formula Renault 3.5.

In 2014, Gasly made an appearance in the GP2 series, as a one-off replacement for a weekend. He was granted some off-season testing, and then was signed for a full season. He remained in the sport for three seasons, until in 2017, he moved to the Japanese Super Formula.

Alongside those duties, he joined the Red Bull Formula One team as reserve driver for the 2016 and 2017 season. Towards the end of the 2017 season, Gasly was confirmed as a replacement for Daniil Kvyat at Toro Rosso for several races, as a test of his potential for a full season in Formula One.
