F1 biography

Juncadella’s racing career started with the traditional karting experience, and the Spaniard moved on up through some of the junior single-seater series. He drove in the Formula BMW championship in 2007, winning some races in the European competition the following year. He fought for the championship in 2009, finishing second behind Felipe Nasr.

Formula Three was next on the agenda, with Juncadella securing pole position on his debut outing. He continued to race in various F3 ventures, winning the Macau Grand Prix in 2011, before joining the DTM series in 2013. At the same time, he became associated with the Williams F1 team, driving some of the young driver testing sessions for them.

Ahead of the 2014 season, Juncadella was confirmed as reserve driver for Force India, with increased responsibilities to go alongside his continued participation in the DTM series. Juncadella made his F1 weekend debut with a stint in Friday Practice at Silverstone. There was no space in the F1 seats for Daniel, so he instead concentrated on his DTM duties, combining them with GT Series racing.
