Tonio Liuzzi sits out the Australian Grand Prix
Hispania Racing

Tonio Liuzzi eyes up his doomed HRT car as the team fail to qualify for the Australian Grand Prix. Liuzzi managed to complete the one installation lap that either car could manage during Friday practice, and then despite both cars being ready for action on Saturday, neither managed to meet the required 107% pace ruling.

Tonio was a late signing to the Hispania team, confirmed just before the season got underway, due to contract and financial negotiations. Unfortunately for him, his season will not seriously start until Malaysia at the earliest.

Nevertheless, Liuzzi had to toe the party line and congratulate his team on what they had achieved: "We have to be happy with what we've done, the lap time was more than what we expected and we believe that our car will be much better in the future. It is true that everything was a little bit critical because we ended up not qualifying, but we just have to be proud of the job done by the team."
