Gutiérrez retires from Hungary, sixth DNF in a row

Esteban Gutiérrez notched up his sixth retirement of the 2014 season in Hungary, after the energy recovery system on his Sauber failed and sent him out of the race. Teammate Adrian Sutil managed to get to the end of the race but didn't pick up any points, leaving Sauber still sitting on zero as the season heads into its second half.

Between the pair of them, Sutil and Gutiérrez have eleven DNFs, on three occasions the team saw neither driver get to the chequered flag. It's been a rocky year for Sauber, when they had shown such promise in previous seasons.

Even with the poor performances, team principal Monisha Kaltenborn isn't letting the situation get her down too much - or at least not in public. After the race, she said: "The whole team delivered an impeccable performance under very difficult circumstances." And head of track engineering Giampaolo Dall'Ara had similar optimistic views, pulling the best out of what was another non-scoring weekend for Sauber: "It was positive that we were able to race with quite a lot of competition, but it’s disappointing not to finish in the points."
