This past weekend, the great and the good of the sportscar world descended upon Sebring to participate in the 12 hour endurance race to kick off the ALMS and ILMC championships.

Many former F1 drivers took part, with Olivier Panis in the winning team, and Allan McNish in the opposing team. Driving for Peugeot, Franck Montagny, Alex Wurz, Marc Gené and Anthony Davidson took their various stints out on track, whilst in a different category, Giancarlo Fisichella drove for Ferrari.

The main battle, as per usual, was fought between Peugeot and Audi, with their LMP1 prototype cars dominating the event. However, it was a short-lived competition, as the two Audi cars suffered bad luck after only a few hours. One of the cars had two mechanical issues in very short succession, whilst the other had a coming together with Marc Gené in the Peugeot that knocked them down a couple of laps.

That allowed Peugeot to dominate as twilight fell with the ORECA Peugeot taking the victory, the Highcroft Peugeot second, and the works Peugeot finishing off the podium. The two Audis finished 4th and 5th.
