Red Bull had a difficult first day of running in Bahrain, which isn't exactly what the team were hoping for after also struggling during the first week of pre-season testing in Jerez last month. Red Bull managed 21 laps over the course of their first four days of testing, and improved massively on that with 14 laps completed by Sebastian Vettel, who posted the fifth fastest time overall.

It was really only an afternoon of running for the German, too, as the team kept him in the garage for a large portion of the day as they rebuilt his car. When he did manage to get out on track, he subsequently spun off due to a brake problem and brought out the red flag. However, Vettel wasn't too disheartened, admitting that they were new problems and not ongoing issues left over from their time in Spain.

"Very often, you fix one problem then another problem pops up so I think there is stuff to do on the Red Bull Racing side in terms of reliability, temperatures, in general around the car, and there's stuff on the Renault side. It's not fair to separate those two, we are a team and we have been very successful together.

It's difficult to get a feel when you have only done a couple of laps and not everything is running smoothly. We didn't expect to have that many problems right at the beginning, but it is what it is and I know that everyone is 100 per cent working flat-out trying to find solutions as quick as we can."
