Caterham had a weekend of mixed fortunes, as Charles Pic finally got the better of the Marussia boys, but Giedo van der Garde suffered at the hands of an errant wheel. The Dutch driver retired on lap 23 after his left rear tyre detached from the car.

As Giedo explains: "At some point the wheel came off so I tried to make it back to the garage to see if I could continue, but once the team had taken a close look it was clear I had to retire the car."

Despite the disappointing end to his Spanish Grand Prix, Giedo is taking a lot of positives away from the weekend: "The updates on the car are working well, and we have more to come. Our race pace is really good, strong enough to fight with a few cars ahead and my quali performance was easily my best this year."
