Qualifying has changed significantly this year with the introduction of the new Pirelli tyres. Saving compounds for the race is a primary objective, and sometimes it has been to the detriment of running on a Saturday.

In Spain, Michael Schumacher showed some strategic thinking by getting through to the top ten, but choosing not to set to time so that he could select which tyres he started the race on. Pirelli Motorsport Director Paul Hembery would like to tweak the regulations so this doesn't happen again.

Speaking in Valencia, he said: "I've made a suggestion to put to the Sporting Working Group to say that actually in those circumstances, you should be made to use your Q2 tyres in that situation, so there is no advantage from not setting a time."

He added that he's already presented the idea to some of the teams and they seemed positive about it.
