Lewis Hamilton completes solid third day of running for Mercedes

Mercedes engines are having a good time at the first pre-season test in Spain, and the works team are getting themselves together after a wobbly start. Lewis Hamilton's first day out saw an early crash due to a front wing failure, but his return to the car today was far better. The Brit completed 62 laps altogether, posting the third fastest time.

Talking of his day, Lewis said: "Proving reliability at this stage is crucial and every lap is precious, as this is going to be a seriously challenging year for every team. I'm feeling very positive after these tests and every day on track is another step forwards, but there are so many challenges ahead of us."

It wasn't all perfect for Mercedes, as the team found a transmission issue that brought their running to an early close. With over 60 laps completed today, and nearly 100 clocked up by Nico Rosberg yesterday, they have plenty of mileage to gather data for closer analysis.
