As defending champion and current leader in this year's title fight, there is a lot of expectation on Sebastian Vettel's shoulders. Unfortunately for the German, he headed into this race weekend with the statistic of never having won his home race, as well as the usual fact that he hasn't won in July, either.

That all changed with the 2013 German Grand Prix, as Vettel stormed into the lead at the first corner, managed the race through several strategy calls and a safety car period, and kept two charging Lotus drivers behind him to cross the line in first place.

Ecstatic with the home victory, Vettel said afterwards: "You don't really think about where you are while you are racing, you can't allow your mind to drift, but when the flag came out and the race was over I really let myself enjoy the parade lap and saw a lot of people in the grandstands cheering and flags. These pictures will remain in my head for a long, long time."
