Sergio Pérez prepares for Australia with a furry friend

Sauber driver Sergio Pérez made a brief visit to some furry pals of his during a media outing ahead of the Australian Grand Prix. The Mexican is looking forward to the season getting underway, but is well aware that he still has limited racing under his belt.

"One year of experience isn’t that much, but even this will allow me to focus more on performance than I was able to last year. My target for 2012 is to make the most of the car in every given situation and to fully establish myself in Formula One. We have made really good progress during testing and learnt a lot about the new car. Nevertheless, the track in Melbourne can still come up with surprises."

In 2011, the team raised eyebrows with their unprecedented ability to run a one-stop strategy compared to other teams two-stop plans. Pirelli have tweaked the compounds of their tyres this year, and all competitors have twelve months of data to close the gap, so Pérez (and Sauber) may need to look elsewhere to find their advantage.
