I put some more thought into it, and made some kind of raft shaped thing for the egg. Two rolls joined together, an egg on top. Two rolls either side, and then another double roll on top.
I felt like this might work a little bit better, as we can see from the video posted earlier... it didn't.
I gave it some more thought, pondered what was going wrong, and delved back into the kitchen roll to give the egg a bit of cushioning as it landed.
That wasn't going to be enough, though. The slow-motion (a handy tool for egg landing analysis) showed that it was all coming apart before it even got to the ground.
String!
Technically I had no string, so I doubled up some thread (purple, obviously), and used that instead. I wound it round the egg-raft, and secured it with some rather pathetic knotting.
This time, the drop was successful! But I have no video evidence. Typical of me to have video footage of the breakables, but not the successful egg-voyage.
I do have a photo of the undamaged egg, though.
This will have to do as evidence, I'm afraid.
So that's my medium successful egg drop story. Share yours!!

Morning campers, HI DE HI!
It's a big day in camp today. We've got the second part of the quiz this evening, so make sure you've brushed up on your F1 knowledge for about 8pm UK time.
But before that, we're launching the F1 Bake Off!
Essentially, this is: Bake something that has an F1 twist.
Use up those leftover eggs that survived, or weren't subjected to, the egg drop, and get baking!
Here's a few ideas: A very detailed step by step guide for creating the F1 car shape in this How to carve a Formula One car cake post. Meanwhile, another McLaren takes shape in this F1 car birthday cake article. And this Facebook gallery has a most excellent Formula One cake and cupcake tower.
There's also a great video provided by Jordan F1, with a unique and edible idea! https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B-AsO186l79PNHlVbmt6czAwdVU/edit?pli=1
You've got heaps of time to ponder your bake, share your thoughts on recipes, ingredients, ideas and more. I reckon we should compile the results on Saturday.
Hope you're all getting ready for the quiz this evening. One hour to go!
Quiz o'clock is nearly upon us. Grab your pens, pencils, or text editors of choice!
As before, there are fifteen points available and we've got five rounds to dispense them in.
Right then, campers, this is the Sidepodcamp Quiz Night Part Deux! Welcome along!
The first round is General Knowledge. Five questions, one point apiece. Let's begin.
Question 1: How many rookies started the 2013 Australian race?
Question 2: Who became the first ever posthumous F1 champion in 1970?
First ever, and so far only, I should say.
Another how many question this time, Question 3: How many brand new circuits joined F1 between 2008 and 2012?
Counted them all up? Goodo, onwards! Question 4: What was the Force India team called two iterations ago?
Final question for this round. Question 5: How many teams did Rubens Barrichello drive for during his F1 career?
Okay, happy with your answers (or guesses) for Round 1? Let's move on to Lou's favourite. The Picture Round.
Actually, if I'm honest this is more of a Colour Round. The idea here is to name the team based on the livery colours on display. You'll... just have to see what I mean in a moment.
Livery 1:
So the question is, which current team run those colours?
I'm starting to think this wasn't such a good idea, but oh well, I've got three more to go anyway.
Livery 2:
Colour palette. That would have explained it better.
Livery 3:
Final one so we can put this ridiculous round behind us.
Livery 4:
The third round is also known as Triple Threat in which you are tasked with naming three answers for a particular question, with one point for each answer.
For today's quiz, I'd like you to name three Japanese F1 drivers... BUT they must have completed a full F1 season.
Had enough time on that one? Goodo. Now it's my favourite round, because I know I would be hopeless at it, this is Recent Memory.
Two questions, both about the Hungarian Grand Prix, as that was the most recent event we've had. Question 4-1: Who finished fastest in first practice?
Question 4-2: Which driver finished tenth, picking up the final available point?
Enough time on that one, I reckon. Here's the final question, called One Race to Rule Them All, which is a bit dramatic considering it's only worth one point.
I'll give you a clue to the race, some facts and the like, and you just need to tell me the race and the year.
Here goes: Felipe Massa took pole position for this uniquely timed Grand Prix at a brand new circuit. The Brazilian finished 13th, with a soon-to-be-teammate taking a soon-to-be controversial victory.
That's all! The second part of the quiz is over and done with. Well done everyone.
I will compile the answers momentarily and share them. Don't forget to tot up your scores and add them to your round 1 results as well.

Wednesday already! We are barrelling through this second week of camp.
Don't forget to keep working on your F1 Bake Off ideas, but there's another challenge available for you today.
Today is the Playstation Challenge, which doesn't involve a Playstation. That's good because we don't have one.
This is a photo challenge, to take four pictures. One off circle, one of a triangle, a square and a cross. That's the only guidance, the rest is up to your creativity.
It could be four separate pictures, or one picture with all shapes, or perhaps one of those grid style collections.
Some brilliant Playstation Challenge submissions coming in. Do send yours across when you've done!
It's Sidepodcampfire night, as well, so we're back on Wavelength with some rather magical 80s tunes on the playlist. http://wavelength.fm/Sidepodcampfire
Here's the newsletter for Wednesday, highlighting the good stuff from today and previewing the good stuff for tomorrow! http://twitter.com/sidepodcast/status/367755728909381632/photo/1
