Okay, everyone, slight delay, but here we go! Sidepodcamp Quiz Night - Part the First!
To explain briefly, I've gone with a Thunderbirds theme on the quiz, in that the first round is worth 5 points, the second 4, the third 3, etc, etc.
We'll get straight on with it. The first round is General F1 Knowledge.
Some easy, some hard here. Question 1: Which tobacco company sponsored McLaren, replaced on the livery by the driver name when not allowed?
It's a point for each correct answer, by the way, so that by the end, you should have a total out of 15.
You can note down your own answers, I won't be marking them, it's an honesty game. I'll publish the answers in a bit.
Question 2: After Ferrari, which team has the most championships?
"Is that individuals from that team or constructors' championships?" Constructor's Titles.
Question 3: Which team did Michael Schumacher make his F1 debut with for one race only?
And Question 4: How many F1 World Driver Championships have been won by Brazilians?
Your final question for this first round is a two-parter, but you need both parts to get the point. Question 5: Who was the first female scorer in Formula 1 in 1975, and how many points did she get?
Okay, happy with your first five? Get ready for the Picture Round!
This is a "guess the helmet" round, in which I have tried to get at least somewhat recognisable lids, rather than the crazy types who change them every single race.
Helmet 1:
That one should be easy enough for those of us obsessed with the Capri-Sun branding.
Helmet 2:
Time for Helmet 3:
And the last picture for this round, Helmet 4:
That's the picture cards all dealt with. It's time to move on to the next round. This is one of those in which you must name three things out of a possible list of plenty.
I call this round Triple Threat.
For today's quiz, I'd like you to name three circuits that have hosted the European Grand Prix - that's the actual designated race, not the honorary title.
One point for each of the three.
Right, that's enough time on that one. Now, the penultimate round is called: Recent Memory. Here, we're testing what you can recall from the Hungarian Grand Prix, because if you're anything like me, it won't be a lot!
Question 1... or 6... or 4-1... whatever you like: How many drivers failed to see the chequered flag in Hungary?
Question 2 / 7 / 4-2: Whereabouts on track did Kimi Räikkönen park his car after the race ended?
The final question, the big one, this is called One race to rule them all! You'll have a clue to a pretty famous race in F1's history and you just need to name the race and the year. This is one of those "only easy if you know it" types.
And here's the clue: This race was won by Damon Hill who started on the grid third, behind a fellow Brit in second and polesitter Mika Häkkïnen. It was wet and it was the first win for Hill’s team.
That's it! You're all done with the first part of the quiz. So here are some logistics.
I'll post the answers, perhaps in a scrapbook post, and link to them here. Tot up your scores and celebrate or commiserate as needed.
Keep a note of your score from today, because across the three quizzes, with a bonus at the end, you'll want to add them up and get a total score out of 50.
A brief pause while the answers are gathered. If only I had some hold music.
Fanfare, please! Here are the answers: https://sidepodcast.com/snippet/answers-sidepodcamp-quiz-part-one-answers-big-quiz-gathered-together-one-place
Thanks for joining the quiz this evening, hope it was entertaining and a reasonable mix of easy/hard questions. The next part is currently scheduled for Monday, I think, but subject to change.

Good morning campers, hi de hi!
Today is an eggciting day!
And here's why! Will has come with an ingenius, and Blue Peter-esque activity for us. https://sidepodcast.com/snippet/felix-baumgartn-egg-drop-take-part-eggciting-sidepodcamp-competition
So a change of plan on the live show front, in that there isn't going to be one. Should give you more time to plan your Save-the-Egg campaigns though.
Mr C now understands why I shouted at him not to throw out the toilet rolls recently.

I made the mistake of assuming this egg drop thing would be easy.
First attempt, having to use kitchen roll instead of newspapers, which we don't really have lying around.
Turns out, eggs are kinda fragile. Who knew?

Tomorrow will be the Extended Hangout, so I will close comments on the Week 1 Sidepodcamp stuff. Week 2 will start bright and early on Monday morning. Be back here then!
