With the first 90 minutes already under our belts, it's time to consume another hour and a half of track action. Hopefully. It depends on all kinds of things, such as the weather, and what kind of setup runs the drivers will be doing. It's likely to be all about tyres for this second session, as the teams get to grips (pun intended) with the compounds.

Weather update

clear

Suzuka, Japan, Friday

23℃

  • Low 15℃
  • Humidity 68%

Sunny

The forecasts suggest today is going to be nice and dry, meaning the teams can get their programmes complete and all the running they want. The problems will start tomorrow, if the predicted rain arrives, and messes up their setups.

One to watch

Nico Hülkenberg was spotted doing some nice and scrappy driving at the last race, and with some of the teams securing their lineups for the 2011 season already, he'll want to be impressing the bosses this weekend. He does not have the benefit of track knowledge, though, that Kamui does:

As I obviously haven't driven the track before either, I've been preparing on the simulator at the factory. I've also been going through data with my engineers to be in the best position I can be when I get there.

- Nico Hülkenberg

The team are targeting points finishes for both their cars this weekend, so how far up the order can he finish and how much running can he do today to help himself out?

Predictions please

Will it still be dry when FP2 gets underway? Will it be dry when FP2 finishes? Will the order resemble qualifying tomorrow? Who will make the headlines for the end of the day? Will anyone crash out?
