Rise and shine, it is the start of the Japanese Grand Prix weekend, and it's an early one. There are just four races left, and things are getting closer and more exciting as the season draws to a close. Who will make the most impact on the championship this weekend? It all begins here.

Weather update

clear

Suzuka, Japan, Friday

23℃

  • Low 15℃

Sunny

You can always tell a Japanese race thanks to the very changeable conditions, but it looks like the weekend will get off to a sunny start with nice clear conditions. Rain is predicted for Saturday, but Friday should remain dry.

One to watch

Kamui Kobayashi has the double bonus this weekend of being at his home race, and also he has been around the Suzuka circuit at an F1 race before. Last year he made his debut here, so at last he is coming back to a track that he has at least a bit of experience of.

I find the circuit very nice, and I really like every inch of it. It is a challenging track over the entire lap. I think our car will be good in Suzuka. It is very exciting for me to be going there, and I know there will be a lot of supporters.

- Kamui Kobayashi

Apparently there is a special section of grandstand dedicated to the Japanese driver, so he needs to give the fans something to cheer about.

Predictions please

Who will get off to the best start? Will Red Bull regain some of their super-duper pace? Which of the new teams will start the weekend fastest? How will the weather hold up?
