Red Bull posted the fastest two times in first practice earlier today, proving that they aren't ready to be defeated easily. The challenge is on, and if you look at Ferrari's times from earlier, it's going to be an interesting fight. They aren't normally worried about speed and headlines though, Ferrari, they prefer to take things at their own pace.

Weather update

clear

Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace, Friday

30℃

  • Low 22℃
  • Humidity 44%

Sunny

More sunshine for now. The forecasts have been updated slightly, with Lotus Racing boss Mike Gascoyne suggesting earlier that it could be wet for qualifying, but that the race itself should be nice and dry. It would be good to have a race unaffected by the weather, especially as Brazil is so exciting without intervention from the heavens.

One to watch

Brazil has not always been kind to Lewis Hamilton, and the pressure is on as he sits out of the top two fighting for the championship. He believes their car could be on top form around Interlagos though.

In the past I have struggled to have the best car here but I feel this car is better suited to this track, and this track is not the highest of downforce levels, so it brings the others a lot closer to us. I think you will see a similar battle that you saw in the last race.

- Lewis Hamilton

It may suit their car, but will it suit their car enough that they beat the Red Bulls? That will be the key.

Predictions please

Will Ferrari improve their times at all in this second session? Will the weather be nice and sunny throughout? Will anyone else crash and give their mechanics a headache? Will Alonso's engines last?
