Bringing a little corner of London closer to home

Sidepodcast: Getting into the Olympic spirits

by Christine

The long-awaited pre-Olympics meetup is happening on this very day in that there London. We'll be descending on the capital and hoping to avoid the torch as it meanders through the streets, so that we can find our way to the Coal Hole, where there will be drinks and chatter, F1 and otherwise. Everyone is welcome, but if you can't make it, the comments are here for you. You know we'll be bringing you along for the ride, so here's to a night of catching up and keeping in touch!

Sidepodcast: Come for a drink, or just come to say

by Amy Fulton

Hello you. Do you live in London? Or don’t mind travelling there? Are you booked up six weeks from Thursday? If so and if not, why not come along to the 12th annual Sidepodmeetup? You’ll get to spend an evening with a whole bunch of people who hang out on this website, including our lovely hosts Christine and the mysterious Mr C. Imagine being able to tell your grandchildren you saw his face! If that’s not enough to get you in the door I don’t know what is.

The Canadian Grand Prix live... in London!

Watching Formula One with a group of like-minded people

Sidepodcast: The Canadian Grand Prix live... in London!

by Adam Le Feuvre

The 2011 Canadian GP is near-guaranteed to be a massively exciting race - it's the first of the year to include two DRS zones and this is a track where overtaking was already more than doable before we had the new gizmos. Strategy will play a big part, especially in terms of tyres - the Gilles Villeneuve circuit is notoriously hard on rubber, so the rapidly degrading Pirellis will present quite a challenge to the teams and drivers.

Spreading the Sidepodcast love

How our friends got the word out at Spa-Francorchamps

Sidepodcast: Spreading the Sidepodcast love

by Lou

You’ll be aware by now that a group of 11 Sidepodcast commenters headed into the soggy depths of the Ardenne Forest last weekend to experience the remarkable 2010 Belgian Grand Prix. Even though only a small section of our community actually made the trip to Belgium we tried our best to take the site with us, checking the comments and sending twitpics as often as we could. We were of course representing the site while on our holiday, and so to celebrate this I made a larger version of the original Sidepodcast banner.

An F1 road trip to Belgium

The biggest meetup yet - a visit to the Belgian Grand Prix

Sidepodcast: An F1 road trip to Belgium

by Lou

As Formula 1 begins to wake up from its long summer slumber, a group of Sidepodcast commenter's from all over the world are beginning to prepare for our trip to next week’s Belgian Grand Prix. If you’ve been around the comments over the last couple of months you’ll no doubt have seen mentions of plans and our excitement. However we’re like a huge family here, and an official Sidepodcast trip wouldn't be the same without the comments. We’d miss you all too much. So while our group of 11 or so are away we’ll do our best with rural Belgian 3G and wifi to keep you all involved in the entire experience. From our luxurious mobile homes to being trackside, we want you to be there too.

Virtual racing in a group environment

Sidepodcast: A Sidepodcast meetup at Pure Tech Racing

by Scott Woodwiss

For those who know me and a few others here in the Sidepodcast community, there are some of us who enjoy racing games quite a lot. Another thing we enjoy here is meeting up with each other and generally having a good time. In the past there have been a couple of meets at places such as Goodwood, the Autosport show and the London Science Museum. Now, myself and Pat W are in the process of organising a Sidepodcast meetup which combines the two.

London calling

Heading to the city for a meetup including Joe

Sidepodcast: London calling

by Christine

Sidepodcast is heading to our nation's capital tomorrow for the Evening with Joe that has been highly anticipated for many week's now. We're going there both as fans and as crew, to record some audio and take some photos for a podcast to promote the event. In some ways it's sort of like An Aside with Joe Live.
