Bahrain 2010 - Race Results

Vettel was leading the way for the majority of the race, but mechanical problems saw him fall slowly backwards, handing the glory to Ferrari who take a dominant 1-2 victory for the first race of the 2010 season.

With Chandhok making his F1 debut in qualifying, and the idea of traffic presenting a bit of a problem, Q3 was a busy session. Q2 was the fast session, whilst Q1 saw the shootout for pole, and it was Vettel who got the glory.

Saturday got underway in a similar fashion to Friday, relatively quiet, but things soon got going as the drivers tried out their cars in qualifying trim. You can view the full results of the session, but keep reading to relive it step by step.

    From BBC Live - Sarah Holt: Ferrari say that neither Fernando Alonso or Felipe Massa did any qualifying simulation on Friday but both will be keen to get an idea of their true pace on the desert circuit. Michael Schumacher reckons he is still a little rusty when he comes to finding his maximum performance over one lap and was miffed to be out-performed by his Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg in both early practice sessions.

The end of Saturday Practice was almost as exciting as the push for pole, but it was Alonso who grabbed the morning headlines. Poor Chandhok still couldn't get in the car meaning he will have to make his debut in qualifying. No pressure!

Free Practice 2 is complete and we still have yet to see Chandhok out on track. Rosberg put Mercedes on top, with Schumacher in third, and Hamilton splitting the pair of them.

The first session of Free Practice is done and dusted, then, and we have a Force India at the top - although fuel weights have to be taken into account. The new teams had varying degrees of success but the moment of the session was seeing Senna and Hispania make their F1 debut.
