It is young Sebastian Vettel's birthday today, so I suppose he is one year less young now. I wonder if he will ever not be "young" Seb? Anyway, the first person to mention Little Britain gets a lifetime ban from Sidepodcast (this sentence not included, obviously). Here are some of the community things happening:
- Scott's Puma fan report finally went up on their site, and it's a really great read with some fabulous photos. There was also a really good video, although that seems to have gone MIA (grrr, Bernie). If you did manage to catch the video, please join me in the call for Scott to replace EJ on the BBC.
- Gavin's been away on a trip to Norway, and took some ace photos. I do like some good holiday snaps. Also, get used to the sharing of photos, as I'm expecting to link to plenty more from those going to Goodwood. Take lots of pictures on our behalf and we'll share them with the crowd.
- Finally, this isn't directly community related, but I wanted to give a quick plug to the DarkUFO LOST Episode Cup. The competitions on this site were our inspiration to run the character and circuit cups on SPC, so props to them. Also, if you like LOST, go vote!
That's all for now. As it is Friday, let us know what your plans are for the weekend. We're not going to Goodwood, so we'll probably be around (as if we wouldn't have been anyway!). I will see you in the comments.
I leave him for just four days and find that the daily post has shifted to arrive just five minutes before the next day begins. I am back now and order will be restored. Because I have no idea what's been going on and Mr C tells me I have missed nothing in F1 news, I will simply regale you with tales of my holiday. To add a twist, though, try and guess which F1 driver I was emulating at the time each event occurred.
- I already mentioned in the comments the moment when I was allowed to take charge of the boat and guide it into a lock. Unfortunately, I managed to bounce off both walls and the other boat that was already inside. Who does that sound like?
- We turned a sharp corner and didn't make it in time, getting stuck in the mud. This required some poles and some serious pushing. It's a little like marshals getting the call to shove a car back on track - who would do that?
- Finally, having worked out how to not injure one's self in the dangerous call of duty that is steering and navigating a 50 foot long boat, I then dismounted and landed in a patch of stinging nettles, causing serious injury to one's right leg. I say serious, there's a bit of a red bit, that's all. However, injuries, right legs, sound familiar?
I won't bore you with anymore holiday stories, because I don't want to be that person, but I will be going through my camera soon, so look forward to holiday snaps shortly. Even if the sun didn't come out until we'd handed the boat back. I'll see you in the comments... after I've caught up.
It's been a while, but in the absence of one half of Sidepodcast, it falls to me to provide the daily post this fine Saturday morning.
There hasn't been a huge amount happening in the F1 world, and after the first batch of flyaway races, this can only be a good thing. Trivia to be aware of today includes:
- Autosport had a chat with Charlie Whiting and he revealed more information about what happened during the steward enquires in Melbourne and Sepang. It's a worthwhile read, albeit subscription only.
- In yet more Autosport news, or should that be AUTOSPORT news (upper-case is all the rage these days), Peter Windsor is thinking about Cosworth power, while Philippe Gurdjian is thinking about faffing around with Grand Prix start times - that can only end well!
- Outside of the Formula 1 bubble, Me and Page 22 continues to take on a life of its own, while someone in the comments (rumoured to be Steven), has started Sidepodreligion. The mind truly boggles.
That pretty much wraps up the past 24 hours, what will the next bring? On Zero Downforce, Scott has just compiled a Super Season Grid based on times from the first two races, while Christine is lord knows where, holidaying on a boat.
Me? I'll see you in the comments.
Things are gradually picking up again in the Formula 1 world, which is good because we are reduced to playing golf games. Although, the golf game is quite good, so perhaps that's not a bad thing. Anyway, here are some of the stories floating around today:
- After all our excitement of yesterday, the Carlos Slim Buys Honda headline has died down suddenly. ITV just managed to write the story, when Autosport said they were sure nothing had changed since before Christmas, and then AFP corrected themselves on their earlier article, with a source saying Mr Slim isn't even in negotiations with the team. Oh well, looks like we got all excited a bit prematurely.
- The age old story of Alonso moving to Ferrari is back again, but this time there is added weight to the rumours. With sponsors moving around, and driver contracts up at the end of 2009, the speculation is that Fernando could be donning red overalls for 2010 and onwards. We've been talking about it all year and it looks like that will continue through 2009 as well.
- Don't forget we're looking for your predictions. If you haven't already, head on over to the predictions post and leave your thoughts. Be warned though, we will look back in 12 months time and hold you to them.
The daily post finally returns to it's midnight slot, it looks like the holiday is nearing an end. We're constantly working on behind the scenes stuff for Sidepodcast, so while we do, please keep us amused in the comments discussing anything that's on your mind. I'll see you there.
