It’s the 2nd of December!! Lukeh here wishing a very Merry Chris-mas to all! Yes, OK, it is not Christmas Day but it is in fact the birthday of worldwide legend and much loved shy Muse bassist Chris Wolstenholme!! Woohoooo!!! Chris is my favourite Muse member and there is absolutely no way I could go through this daily and not wish this absolute beast of a man a happy birthday and spread the good word of Chris-mas! But of course, we must consider other things in life. There are lots of other things happening out and about today though...

  • Everyone should definitely take a gander at Christine’s Formula 1 Advent Calendar series – it is December now of course and the season to be jolly!! Whilst continuing the theme of Advent Calendars, the legend that is Alex Andronov had created the Giggles Advent Calendar after a comment I made yesterday saying how awesome the idea would be with a pun a day from Giggles. Luckily for me, Alex proved me right and his calendar defines the term ‘mindblowingly awesomely brilliant’. I love it!! What chocolate did you guys get in your advent calendar today?
  • Recently I’ve been playing the Formula 1 game as ever on the Wii. It’s very, very good you know, and if you haven’t checked it out yet, you should read my review I wrote last week. If I’m going to be self indulgent for a moment, then please do check out my personal blog – Thoughts of a Trying Atheist – and my Formula 1 blog – Gridwalk Talk – if you have a spare 5 minutes. Go onnnnnn. You won’t regret it. Or you will. I hope you don’t though or I’ll just feel guilty.
  • Sadly, there seems to be little Rubens news to report. Bah! Although in actual Formula 1 news, god forbid such a mention on a Formula 1 website, there was plenty of testing with all the young drivers yesterday at Jerez and even more today with various teams. Drivers such as Bianchi and Baguette turned up yesterday, but sadly, no sign of Sausage Roll. Dang. It also seems that Jenson Button is in the top 10 for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year. I’m expecting him to get it but it should be tough with competition from Andrew Strauss, David Haye and Ryan Giggs who have all had an excellent year. Finally, congratulations to Felipe Massa who gave birth to Felipe Massa! Well, obviously he didn’t give birth but he now has a baby son called Felipe Jr. Aww, a Felipe Baby!

So that’s everything I can think of! Today I think I’m just going to listen to Muse all day to celebrate the birthday of the legend that is Chris Wolstenholme. You should definitely check out some of his awesomeness to celebrate this awesome day and learn some new facts about him. It would have been the best day every if Rubens had said he was gonna join Muse and then they were all going to star in Doctor Who together . Oooh, that sounds too good. Nevertheless, have an excellent Wednesday everybody!!

It is Monday once again and to steal the title from the song by The Boomtown Rats; I don't like Mondays, the weekend is over and I'm having to get on with some work. This is the third daily post as part of the takeover, who knows maybe we should takeover more often? The aim for this daily thread is to be free of anything Formula One related. I hope the teams don't decide today is the day to reveal anything but by saying that I have probably tempted fate so if something does happen I'm sure breakout posts will appear as soon as humanly possible.

  • Today is Must Comment Monday, so feel free to plug your latest blog posts or your blog in general. If you don't have a blog then now is the perfect time to start one. It is a lot of fun and there really no excuses not to have one.
  • On an MFC note, some figures for BBC iPlayer have revealed that in October alone there were 70 million requests for programs. iPlayer is now available on 15 platforms (but not the Xbox) and it is reported to be transferring 12.5gb worth of data per second.
  • Its the last day of November and Christmas is only 25 days away. Which means the Christmas special of Doctor Who is fast approaching, BlogtorWho have images of the Christmas Radio times cover & feature on "The End of Time". I, for one, can't wait for the Christmas special.

Finally I know I already mentioned it, but please remember is it Must Comment Monday all bloggers really appreciate comments, a list of blogs can be found over on the wiki.

Hope you all have a good day, and I shall see you in the comments at some point!

We have reached Sunday and it is Doctor Who day! Eh-hem. Please excuse any Doctor Who excitement in the daily thread today, but we have been waiting a long time for this! Of course, there are plenty of F1 things to talk about. Well, I say plenty, there are a couple of things.

  • Notus have confirmed that running a Malaysian driver is not crucial to their plans to hit the grid, and that is lucky, as there are only a couple of viable options. They are hoping for that in the future though, and looking at it as more of a long-term project rather than something they need for their first year in the sport.
  • In linkage news, Jackie came up with a great weekend idea to highlight some of the great posts and give you something to read over a weekend. Round up posts are always very interesting, especially when there is editorial in there as well.
  • Yesterday, we watched Cars and live commented our way through the film - it was brilliant fun, and thanks to everyone who was around to enjoy it with us. If you missed out this time, stay tuned for the next movie - we're taking suggestions over on the wiki. Whichever one we pick will have to go some way to beat Cars, though, it had rarely working traffic lights and everything!

That'll do it for now. Don't forget there's no live show tonight, but we are working on the podcast about our experience at the Mercedes-Benz event, and that should be with you at some point soon. I will see you in the comments.

It is Sunday. Mr C and I enjoyed a nice day off from Sidepodcast yesterday, which involved watching the tennis, blogging a bit, catching up on RSS feeds, and commenting. Okay, technically not going completely cold turkey but we have already established that isn't possible. Here are some of the things going on at the moment:

  • Ollie has written a fantastic guide to Goodwood. The Festival of Speed is next weekend, and if you've never been before there are plenty of handy tips and some invaluable advice to help you along your way.
  • There are plans for a new Sidepodmeetup afoot on the wiki. This time heading to a new Continent, Bassano and Journeyer are heading up the plans to meet in a completely different timezone to us. If you're around and about for the as yet unconfirmed meet, please visit the wiki and sign up.
  • This has nothing to do with F1 at all, but I wrote a post earlier about my top five favourite modern Doctor Who episodes, and Lukeh was inspired to write his own thoughts on the up to date Who series'. Please let us know your thoughts if you're a fan, because we're really missing the series this year.

There will be a show later on today, probably starting about 6pm, although we are not confirmed on that time yet. We did enjoy starting later last week because the show was out before the day was done, but it is a bit of a wrench being ready for 6. Stay tuned though, and we'll let you know asap. See you in the comments.

Christine looks at the recent Toyota launch and who might be the next to join the team.

Transcript

On-screen text: Toyota launched their new car with this very bad photo. [Show very bad photo.] This got me thinking. If all it takes to be an F1 driver is a photoshopped head... I'm in. [Show very bad photo with my head photoshopped in.] And I bet I'm not the only one. [Replace my head with: Doctor Who, Michelin Man, Britney, Mr T, Micky Mouse, Panda] Perhaps racing related people would be better. [Vicki Butler-Henderson, Franck Montagny, Bernie Ecclestone] No? How about a Trulli replacement? [Thomas the Tank Engine] Okay... Now I'm just being silly. Who would you put in the driving seat? See you next week.
