Don’t panic! This is still Sidepodcast. F1 Minute hasn’t taken over the world. Yet.

This is a one off special, because there are some serious circumstances that need urgent attention. We have been nominated for the 2008 Weblog Awards in two categories, and I’m here to ask for your votes.

Yes, this may be a shameless plug of a show – 60 seconds devoted entirely to pleading for you to take time out of your day to vote for us – but what is it they say? A vote for us is a vote for you.

That’s true, in fact, as one of the categories we are a finalist in is Best Online Community. That’s every single one of you that makes up the Sidepodcast Audience, particularly anyone who has commented on the site. You guys make Sidepodcast what it is.

Our other nomination is in Best Podcast. They are both very tough categories so every click counts. You can vote once every 24 hours, and all the information you need is on Sidepodcast.com.

That’s all. Thanks for listening, and I’ll go back to the actual F1 Minute now.

And I Would Listen to 300 More

Quite honestly, you couldn't have scripted it better.

I'm not sure how it happened, maybe the stars are all aligned or something, but Tuesday 7th October, marks the one year anniversary of F1 Minute, which by some freaky coincidence also happens to tie in with the 300th episode of the show.

F1 Minute celebration

That's 300 minutes or 18,000 seconds of Formula One news delivered to your ears in the past 12 months, all from the lungs of one girl. if you listened to every show back-to-back, and they are archived should you fancy the challenge, you'd have exactly 5 hours of entertainment at your disposal.

I have to take my hat off to Christine, because when she first suggested the idea I figured it would last about a week before the colossal amount of work would bury her.

She hasn't stopped though, nor shown any hint of slowing down. Even when she was unwell post Silverstone the minutes kept on coming. On two occasions there was a requirement for multiple shows in a single day, and despite a minor slip up on my part not so long ago, I've listened to every single one of them.

This evening we'll drink a glass or two of champaaagne and say thank you to the F1 circus for providing a seemingly never-ending stream of fascinating stories, as well as one to everybody who's subscribed, listened or left comments in the past 365 days.

Thank you one and all!

Free Content For Your Website

This weekend we're launching something a bit different. If you have a website, if you have a blog, if you have any kind of online presence at all, you might be interested to see what we're up to.

Back in October we launched F1 Minute, a 60 second audio podcast covering the days Formula 1 headlines, released Monday through Friday. For a brand new podcast, it's gone rather splendidly, partly thanks to being featured on both US and UK iTunes homepages. Today we're taking it to the next level and opening up F1 Minute to any website that would like to feature it.

If you'd like to have regularly updated F1 content on your site and are interested in the details please, check out the page Free F1 News For Your Site, which has everything you need to get started.

Shaun and F1 Wolf have already jumped on board and if you're after some free content for your site then it might be worth 10 mins of your time. Leave us a comment if you're using F1 Minute or if there's anything else we could enhance or improve.

Update: F1 Minute has now moved to it's own domain. You can still get free news for your site by popping over there and following the instructions.
