Who goes where - 2014 edition // An up to date table of the driver signings for the brand new season

Published by Christine Blachford

Nico Hülkenberg was just recently confirmed back at his old team of Force India, meaning that in the space of five days, we've had two of the big driver movements sorted. Pastor Maldonado was holding the key to some of the market, and once he was announced as a Lotus driver, the question hovered over where Nico would end up. There are still a few teams with decisions to make, but here's the 2014 driver line-up as it currently stands.

We'll keep the post updated as more announcements come filtering in, so hopefully this will make a handy bookmark if you ever need to know who has signed with which team, and how many spaces on the 2014 grid remain.

  • Thanks for this. I remember best with visuals.

  • Someone could do a version with team logos and helmet graphics, but we'd need a big animated GIF for Vettel..! ;-)

    He's keeping his options open!

Let's not even talk about the lucky coconuts!

  • Glad to see someone has confirmed Hulkenberg. It would have been ridiculous if he had not had a drive next season. He deserves a far better drive but like diResta he arrived in F1 at a bad time. Had the two of them been five years older they would have had drives with the top teams and the guys following them would have struggled to get good seats.

But I don't suit orange and green!!!!!!

No-one ever suited orange and green.

  • Vijay makes me laugh. WTF is going on with his hair? I've seen 8 year olds with that haircut!

  • I thought that Sauber had signed that Russian guy Sirotken(?), assuming he could get a super license?

does he have that super licence yet? also cooperman says the promised russian money didn't come through: www.motorsportmag…nd-prix-prologue/

you'd assume that if hulk went with force india, sauber don't have the funds they were expecting for next year.

It crossed my mind that Sirotkin may be less appealing to Russian investors now that Kvyat has a Toro Rosso F1 driver. With Kvyat part of the Red Bull empire he is going to get a load of media coverage in Russia rather than it all being available to Sirotkin and his sponsors.

The Sirotkin deal is being financed by his father, so I'm not sure he'd be too fussed about other Russian drivers. Other Russian sponsors that might piggyback on the deal might split their allegiance of course. Granted it's all inconsequential now that Sirotkin will not be driving for Sauber.

From what I've heard is that Hulk burned a lot of his bridges with Sauber when he went seat fitting with Lotus, and was generally quite forward in putting himself out there. He was loyal during the non-payment phase, but was very eager to get out. Especially when it becomes clear the only other option is the main rivals... Hm.

So what's likely for the rest of the seats? Perez to FI seems inevitable, as does Sutil to Sauber. Then what though? You can never really tell with Caterham and Marussia, but a few Twitter rumours were linking Guti to a English based team, which could be either. Who do Sauber go for if Guti goes? di Resta - unlikely due to lack of money, Bianchi - contracted with Marussia. After that I'm literally out of ideas.

Hulkenberg must have set some kind of record for not getting paid. When he drove in that formula where cars were countries he won so many bonuses that the series organisers couldn't pay him. Amazing how quickly a class goes from being in every day discussion to being that formula that...

Then after Williams he went to Force india who were always having money problems then Sauber and back to FIF1. He is probably owed several millions still from various sources.

i'm confused what sutil moving out and perez moving in gains anyone. wouldn't it be easier for sutil to stay put and perez to return to sauber?

I assume whichever one has the more money gets first choice of team

You put your left driver in, you take your left driver out, you put your left driver in and shake him all about.

  • Updated with Sergio Pérez. Five spots left!

I hope we keep Guti, would be criminally to throw him out onto the dirt for next year.

They seemed to spend a lot of the year defending him, you know, he's a rookie having to do all his learning in public. You'd think that meant something but then McLaren sort of did that with Checo. Still, he must be more use than Sergey with a year under his belt.

  • guti added to the table.
