Formula One calendar confirmed for 2013
Season takes shape as FIA release World Championship event list
Published by Mr. C
Even as this year's F1 season reaches its crescendo, preparations for next year's championship are well underway. Today in Paris, the World Motor Sport Council confirmed the schedule of races in 2013.
There are few surprises amongst the list of events. Much the same as this year the calendar features 20 races - Australia kicks off proceedings in March while Brazil brings down the curtain in late November. Hungary and Belgium continue to bookend the summer break.
Gone is the European GP of Valencia, leaving Spain with just the one Grand Prix. Jersey is the season's newcomer although its final presence is still subject to contract and circuit approval.

Other minor changes include the British and German races both moving forward a week, while the Korean GP now appears before the Japanese race.

So great to see the calendar without Valencia
Is it now the GP of Jersey and not America?
Woohoo - Race in the Channel Islands - might be easier to get to than Silverstone!
Valencia wasn't as bad this year as Monaco or Singapore. At least it's theoretically possible to overtake there.
good point, and seemingly yes - Grand Prix of Jersey is how it's listed.
or hungary. i actually rated this years valencia race highly. it'll be back though.
I'd forgotten how bad Hungary was, simply because I hated Monaco more.
Korea before Japan this year.
...which I now see was mentioned right at the bottom...
It is a dockyard industrial estate where everything is bare concrete and it has 25 corners in 3 miles
And Monaco and Singapore are better tracks?
No. I would get rid of all of them. They add nothing to the season as far as I am concerned
Me too. Where are all the decent tracks?
What's with Silverstone being on the usual weekend Goodwood has?
avoids the wimbledon final maybe?
Bassano's plan to road trip from Spa to Monza may be in jeapardy now they're a fortnight apart, or that'll be one epic road trip. :)
Not a bad schedule considering what they have to work with. I dislike ending the year with 2 or 3 bad ones in the last six.
Singapore is essential these days and I'm sure will be much better when they get around to moving the track layout. The one year we all enjoyed Valencia is the year they drop it. I can't recall seeing official confirmation that it's coming back in 2014.
my bad, i thought it had been confirmed. will correct the post.
Yay! Two North American races back to back to look forward to within reasonable North American road distances of each other. Only 7 road hours away one way! Tack on the 6.5 hours to get to Montreal and
...the 6.5 Hours return trip to complete the triangle... 20 hours of driving....Or in another words, from one end of London to the other during the height of the Olympics.... :^P
Back to back Belgium and Italy roadtrip dreams... shattered
Is that how it's officially listed? Seems like a schoolboy error. No one else is named by state or region are they?
You can't have two American GPs, so one has to have a slightly different name.
Actually. They can name Grand Prix after anything they want, if the 1982 season to go by. In 1982, you had No American or U.S. Grand Prixs. The thre that were actually held in the States were called:
1) United States Grand Prix West - LOng Beach, Calif. (USA West, according to F1 web site)
2) Detroit Grand Prix - Detroit Michigan (USA East, according to F1 webs site)
3) Caesars Palace Grand Prix - Las Vegas, Neveda (Las Vegas Grand Prix, according to F1 web site) site)
But if you really want to be a sticker for the one country one Grand prix rule, I would be more than happy should you wish to call the race in New Jersey the Tundraland Grand Prix ....
it will be 5/6/7 th (??) doesnt really have a usual weekend, depends how the dates fall...
.. 1st weekend in July normally...
It might well be but I think I've only heard Joe & others suggest it.
Abu Dhabi is Abu Dhabi, not GP of UAE is it probably should be.
get the impression it could be used to alternate with anyone who can't afford regular races. spain, germany, france and i guess a standby if jersey fails too.
