Comments for Formula 1 in HD, Courtesy of Toyota

Formula One teams have been dishing out corporate videos for years. They're almost always designed to push the "message" in the most unsubtle and unoriginal way imaginable. We try and avoid these full length promos as much as possible, but just this once we're going to capitulate and play a clip unedited, and in its entirety.

I don't think my poor little Mac Mini can handle the whole HD thing.

I don’t think my poor little Mac Mini can handle the whole HD thing.

    it's a bit intense yeah.

  • Dirty Scarab 16/01/2009 at 19:52:09

Yeah, it doesn't get any better in HD...

The FIA or whoever surely should have come up with a HD race feed by now? It's supposed to be the pinnacle of technology after all...

    What's stopping someone doing it?

I wanna see Kubica's nose hairs dagnammit!

I wanna see Kubica’s nose hairs dagnammit!

I'm just using that as a point btw, I don't really have a nasal foliage fetish.

  • me 16/01/2009 at 19:55:18

Yeah, it doesn’t get any better in HD…

really? i thought big sound made a lot of difference to the experience.

    What’s stopping someone doing it?

money. bernie says he needs economies of scale to make it happen and that means lots of broadcasters have to agree to give him lots of money.

i bet it's ready at the flick of a switch.

The quality gets better but not the quality if you get my drift...

i bet it’s ready at the flick of a switch.

That's just plain annoying. We'll just have to wait, I guess. I'm sure it's inevitable that it'll happen though...

the BBC either can’t or wont do

My money's on "can't". Or at least "can't for an even vaguely reasonable price, knowing how Ecclestone operates".

My money’s on “can’t”. Or at least “can’t for an even vaguely reasonable price, knowing how Ecclestone operates”.

So let me get this straight.

    NASCAR: High Def

    NFL: High Def

    Basketball: High Def

    Proper Football: High Def

    Baseball: High Def

    NHL (hockey): High Def

To me at least, the myth that Formula One is the height of technology is now shattered. Between the "spec-ifying" of the sport and ignoring the technologies of the modern world (high def, internet) how can anyone believe that this sport is the height of anything? How much money is Bernie hemmorging by ignore modern multimedia packaging and trends? Really.

Time to pimp your mac! 7200 RPM hard drive and max out the ram. If it is a Core Solo, then a new Core 2 Duo processor as well.

Or, sell it and buy a second hand Core 2 Duo MacBook. The one with the X3100 graphics card so 2.2 GHZ or above.

Toyota video looked good on 24 inch iMac with 1920 x 1200 resolution

It sounds great with my Razer Mako 2-1 surround sound THX speakers - and it is sort of funny - especially for Toyota!
