The Sidepodcast community gather their collective thoughts to predict what is going to happen in the 2013 Formula One season. From who will take victory at the first race, to who doesn't necessarily deserve their race seat, we've got winners, losers and everything in between. Championship predictions are shared, and we find out just why Romain Grosjean's season went wrong last year.

There's talk of Adrian Sutil's big comeback, the future of Mercedes with one Lewis Hamilton on board, and whether Mark Webber will ever be able to make an impact at Red Bull.

Thanks to everyone who took part, it was great fun listening to all the predictions, and there was a surprising amount of agreement throughout. Watch this space as the 2013 season unfolds, and we will revisit this podcast in about nine months time, and see who was right!

  • "He wants to be an omlette but he is just a scrambled egg."

    Genius Lukeh

What do they drink at the Badger bashes?

  • new voices! meeeee likey.

  • Just listening now, have been waiting for this all day :-)

  • 100% genius. big hugs to everyone who took part.

  • Brilliance! Pure brilliance.

  • In case people haven't seen - and didn't catch the reference. (If you're at the office, put some headphones on):

I assumed it was something to do with Badger GP when I saw Adam's name on the list

  • Now that I have returned from Amsterdam, Holland, I am quite happy to state that only Italian cars will win this year.

I pick Vergne to win a rain soaked Monaco GP. (1 win for Toro Rosso!)

Ricciardo to win at Monza. (Both Ferraris running out of gas while in the lead....) (2 wins for Toro Rosso!)

Ferrari winning the Constructors by Hungary.

Boith Ferrari drivers tied on points and everything else by the end of Austin....

Massa winning his 1st Champsionship on his home ground...... ( 9 wins to Alonso's 8)

  • Is it bad that I didn't actually recognise my own voice? :P

    This is awesomeness podcastified though!

  • Was tempted to take part but wasn't sure what I'd say and couldn't find the time as worked all week.

I love the scrambled egg description for Maldonado! :)

  • Hang on **turns volume up** It's Grosjean you were on about. That works too, lol

  • Vettel Vettel Vettel Vettel Vettel Vettel Vettel Vettel Button! Button!

    **in hysterics**

  • Was tempted to take part but wasn't sure what I'd say and couldn't find the time as worked all week.

I find the best way is to get a microphone in front of my face and then just start talking. All of a sudden I find I have an opinion on just about everything

This is definitely not an excuse. You must have an opinion on one of the subjects posed here: sidepodcast.com/p…r-call-definitely If nothing else, a thought on who stands a chance at the championship this year.

I am pencilling you in for next year.

Pretty much this. I didn't plan a thing, I just let things flow and you'd be surprised how easy you go from topic to topic!

There was some egg related talk with Maldonado too, I perhaps should clip out the full egg-based bit for everyone to listen to :)

  • Great work everyone especially Christine. Loved the egg bit.

I had to make notes and even then I left a lot of gaps. Christine is very good with the edits. Mind you, last year I had a full script and this year it was just bullet points.

  • I don't remember saying some of this stuff. :)

I remember saying all mine, not just because it was scripted, but probably more down to the number of times I restarted.

    classic :)

Ah. I restarted a few times, and then called in to do it again in the morning because it was that bad. Always worth having another go if you think you can do better.

  • Interesting level of agreement, is F1 is predictable again or are we getting good at this game? :) Could be tempting fate with that.

Nice to hear some new voices too.

  • Nice to hear some new voices too.

Definitely good to hear new voices. Particularly after Christine's comments on the last live show. It always makes volunteering people a lot easier if they volunteer themselves for one thing first.

I was surprised at the amount of agreement in the predictions. That is most unusual.

Along the lines of hats and rings.

Probably means we're all going to be very wrong then. Isn't that how predictions usually work around here?

    drunk voicemails are my favourite.

Sidepodcast predictions tend not to be very good. I am hoping that at least none of my predictions result in a driver injuring himself

  • drunk voicemails are my favourite.

Oooh, there's an idea :-) Although it won't be me, since I generally don't drink.

There are a few drunk voicemails in the archives. Some are very entertaining

  • Aww...I was trying to keep an eye out for this but missed it. The best that I had come up with was I think this year we will be saying, "It's a good thing that Ferrari didn't get rid of Massa." I won't be as bold as Jordan, but I bet we will see a few podiums and a win or two out of him.

Apologies, it was quite a quick turnaround. Despite retweeting the countdown to F1 regularly over the winter, the season still crept up on me :)

Yeah, I haven't been paying as much attention as I should also.

  • I didn't really have anything original to say so I just sent in an short little message. I also didn't want to ramble, but maybe next time I'll have more confidence and do a bit of that...

And now I don't even agree with myself anymore that Nico will beat Lewis. I guess we'll have that there as a long shot.

Hehe, I change my mind on a daily basis :)

Simple logic. I just think that it is about time that Ferrari figure out can build an awesome car it they tailor it to Massa's liking. They know that Alonso can drive just about anything including tanks and still have a decent shot of winning.

I also think that it is about time that Ferrari build a decent car out of the box again,.
