WAs there a mass lurking going on ;)

I know I wasn't going to make the first move tonight ;)

  • Christine 17/08/2012 at 19:07:14

    Good evening and welcome.

  • Lukeh 17/08/2012 at 19:07:19

    Hello :)

  • Bassano 17/08/2012 at 19:07:31

Yup. Too scared to post first. :)

That's the opposite of the rest of the internet. :)

  • Bassano 17/08/2012 at 19:08:10

Buonoa Sera all. There could be a lot of hellos, mine will be here to all the newcomers

  • lou 17/08/2012 at 19:08:23

    'ello!

  • Christine 17/08/2012 at 19:09:43

How have people's first post-Olympics weeks been?

  • Bassano 17/08/2012 at 19:10:13

Anyone got anything exciting going on this weekend?

    Sidepodstuff, excluded, obviously

  • Steven Roy 17/08/2012 at 19:10:19

How have people's first post-Olympics weeks been?

I think I prefered Olympics to post Olympics

  • ~dreamland~ 17/08/2012 at 19:10:24

Post Olympic Depression Syndrome. Or PODS for short.

  • Bassano 17/08/2012 at 19:10:29

How have people's first post-Olympics weeks been?

    Hard but with less tv

  • Will^ 17/08/2012 at 19:10:57

How have people's first post-Olympics weeks been?

    (Too) Long.

  • Christine 17/08/2012 at 19:11:06

    Hard but with less tv

Our TV has never had so much use and is now sitting desolate in the corner. Poor thing.

  • Pat W 17/08/2012 at 19:11:42

    Hello.

How have people's first post-Olympics weeks been?

Working and not being a tourist in London is boring. At least my flat is a bit tidier after I basically ignored any chores for a fortnight. :)

  • lou 17/08/2012 at 19:11:50

How have people's first post-Olympics weeks been?

it's contained alot of gardening and chatting about the olympics!

  • Lukeh 17/08/2012 at 19:12:38

How have people's first post-Olympics weeks been?

    The what now?

  • Bassano 17/08/2012 at 19:13:32

    The what now?

I think that's between the Olympics and the Paralympics. Like a reeeeally long ad break

  • Davin Sturdivant 17/08/2012 at 19:13:37

So glad the Olympics are over. I've been watching NASCAR Nationwide Road Course races and IndyCar to get over my wait for the F1 season to come back.

Oh, and Pastor crashing. Always Pastor crashing.

  • Will^ 17/08/2012 at 19:13:57

(not wanting to detract from the FuFing too much but) Has MrC stopped the comments-tab, when it's inactive, from saying [Unread Comments], because it's not doing it on my browser (Chrome)?

  • Lukeh 17/08/2012 at 19:14:08

why is spaghetto bolognese so hard to eat... it's so so good yet so hard to eat. WHY DO YOU TAUNT ME FOOD

  • Christine 17/08/2012 at 19:14:17

(not wanting to detract from the FuFing too much but) Has MrC stopped the comments-tab, when it's inactive, from saying [Unread Comments], because it's not doing it on my browser (Chrome)?

Mine still is I think, but he has been fiddling. I'll ask.

  • Bassano 17/08/2012 at 19:14:41

why is spaghetto bolognese so hard to eat... it's so so good yet so hard to eat. WHY DO YOU TAUNT ME FOOD

Are you doing the spinning on a spoon thing?

  • Steven Roy 17/08/2012 at 19:15:03

Galaxy McFlurry. Somethings you only need to hear once to know it has to be good

  • Mr C 17/08/2012 at 19:15:26

Mine still is I think, but he has been fiddling. I'll ask.

lots and lots of fiddling, but not intentionally removed, no?

  • Bassano 17/08/2012 at 19:15:34

    Galaxy McFlurry. ...

Is that the new Samsung Phone?

  • Pat W 17/08/2012 at 19:15:50

Galaxy McFlurry. Somethings you only need to hear once to know it has to be good

    Oh wow, must have

  • Lukeh 17/08/2012 at 19:15:51

Are you doing the spinning on a spoon thing?

I have just finished but yeah, that, and fork, and knife and a forklift and general face in plate.

    So yummy yet so difficult...

  • Christine 17/08/2012 at 19:15:55

why is spaghetto bolognese so hard to eat... it's so so good yet so hard to eat. WHY DO YOU TAUNT ME FOOD

Chop, chop, chop it all up.

  • lou 17/08/2012 at 19:16:24

Are you doing the spinning on a spoon thing?

don't even attempt to explain it. i sat there trying to teach him and someone got a bit frustrated and went back to hopelessly shoving it in his mouth.

One day he'll learn that he can cut it to help him out... ;)

  • Steven Roy 17/08/2012 at 19:16:26

why is spaghetto bolognese so hard to eat... it's so so good yet so hard to eat. WHY DO YOU TAUNT ME FOOD

I still think there is a business in sellin tee shirts with pasta printed on them so we don't all look like messy eaters

  • Bassano 17/08/2012 at 19:16:32

I have just finished but yeah, that, and fork, and knife and a forklift and general face in plate.

So you look like this now?

don't even attempt to explain it. i sat there trying to teach him and someone got a bit frustrated and went back to hopelessly shoving it in his mouth.

what matters is that it went in.

    gracefully, no. but in.

    ahem.

  • lou 17/08/2012 at 19:17:19

Chop, chop, chop it all up.

yess!!!! thank you! i can do the spiny thing but the other way to eat it is to cut it! Listen Mr Luke.. :)

  • Lukeh 17/08/2012 at 19:17:41

Chop, chop, chop it all up.

I think I need to learn this technique because I just end up looking like the Ood

  • Bassano 17/08/2012 at 19:17:47

yess!!!! thank you! i can do the spiny thing but the other way to eat it is to cut it! Listen Mr Luke.. :)

Nah, where's the fun in that? :)

  • Christine 17/08/2012 at 19:17:47

lots and lots of fiddling, but not intentionally removed, no?

Looking at (or away from) my tabs, it looks like the /comments is still working but /event is not. Comments still come in though.

  • lou 17/08/2012 at 19:18:15

    gracefully, no. but in.

you aren't coming to Italy with me until i'm able to take you to a restaurant and you can eat spaghetti properly... just so you know..

  • Mr C 17/08/2012 at 19:18:15

Looking at (or away from) my tabs, it looks like the /comments is still working but /event is not. Comments still come in though.

ah-ha. that is my fault then, will fix.

  • Will^ 17/08/2012 at 19:18:21

Mine still is I think, but he has been fiddling. I'll ask.

I've got 2 versions of this tab side-by-side to check it's not me mistaking things. I think it stopped earlier this week (might've coincided with the big-update to the Recent Comments page)

  • Lukeh 17/08/2012 at 19:18:33

you aren't coming to Italy with me until i'm able to take you to a restaurant and you can eat spaghetti properly... just so you know..

are you planning to go again in about 40 years time?

  • Steven Roy 17/08/2012 at 19:19:10

you aren't coming to Italy with me until i'm able to take you to a restaurant and you can eat spaghetti properly... just so you know..

Why not take him to Italy and give him penne instead

  • lou 17/08/2012 at 19:19:11

are you planning to go again in about 40 years time?

seeing as i've never been before.. i'm hoping to go at one point soon.. when i have money.

  • Will^ 17/08/2012 at 19:19:11

Looking at (or away from) my tabs, it looks like the /comments is still working but /event is not. Comments still come in though.

Yup the comments come through, but the tab doesn't 'nag' me to read them.

  • Bassano 17/08/2012 at 19:19:12

you aren't coming to Italy with me until i'm able to take you to a restaurant and you can eat spaghetti properly... just so you know..

The spoon thing depends on if you are in Northern or Southern Italy

  • Christine 17/08/2012 at 19:19:17

you aren't coming to Italy with me until i'm able to take you to a restaurant and you can eat spaghetti properly... just so you know..

Can't he just order the cannelloni instead?

  • lou 17/08/2012 at 19:19:56

Can't he just order the cannelloni instead?

he's currently trying lots of pasta, so when we know if he likes it i'll let you know ;)

  • Lukeh 17/08/2012 at 19:20:06

seeing as i've never been before.. i'm hoping to go at one point soon.. when i have money.

ohh i just mean i don;t think im going to be able to learn within the next 40 years or so, it's just so difficult

  • lou 17/08/2012 at 19:20:37

ohh i just mean i don;t think im going to be able to learn within the next 40 years or so, it's just so difficult

  • Steven Roy 17/08/2012 at 19:20:37

ohh i just mean i don;t think im going to be able to learn within the next 40 years or so, it's just so difficult

  • Christine 17/08/2012 at 19:21:22

it really isn't, you just didn't listen, it's all in the practice :)

If it means eating tons of spaghetti, then practice is definitely the way to go.

  • Lukeh 17/08/2012 at 19:21:46

If it means eating tons of spaghetti, then practice is definitely the way to go.

    very true! :)

Try wholewheat spaghetti. It looks darker and tastes great but it is a little harder and less floppy so easier to handle with a fork.

This is the car that I'll be driving this weekend, which has like 3 times the power--- startinggrid.file…0111126-00155.jpg

That looks like a serious piece of kit. I would have thought what you really want for an autotest very direct throttle response rather than waiting for a turbo to spin up then kick in

  • Pat W 17/08/2012 at 19:59:14

That's the reason that I hate the Olympics! It made the BBC drop #F1, so it could accord that instead...

Given the choice I can't say I blame them, I'd do the same. I'd drop the rest of F1 if I could have another London Olympics next year.

That looks like a serious piece of kit. I would have thought what you really want for an autotest very direct throttle response rather than waiting for a turbo to spin up then kick in

It's not a large turbocharger, I think just a TD04, so the response should be pretty quick. Then again, I haven't driven it, so I'll find out!

If I was Red Bull, I'd making all sorts of changes to my car, since as soon as the FIA finds out the team is going to be made to change it anyway, or they'll just change the rules.

Soon the paint on the car will be illegal to.

  • Will^ 17/08/2012 at 20:37:11

Soon the paint on the car will be illegal to.

Teams would love that (less weight, so ballast can be placed lower); sponsors not so much.

  • Jordan F1 17/08/2012 at 20:37:53

Like Nigel Mansell blowing everything away in a Williams FW14B was fine and dandy?

  • lou 17/08/2012 at 20:38:12

well it certainly wasn't Spanish Mr C :)

  • Davin S 17/08/2012 at 20:38:26

Why is it that Mark Webber gets no credit for being second in the championship, btw? That makes me so frustrated that he's not in the 'title chase'.

  • Steven Roy 17/08/2012 at 20:38:28

Like Nigel Mansell blowing everything away in a Williams FW14B was fine and dandy?

    I hated that season

  • lou 17/08/2012 at 20:39:47

Christine, you need to (don't kill me for saying this) listen/ watch Ted's analysis with the 3D car on sky. he explains all these tricky things. :)

  • Jordan F1 17/08/2012 at 20:39:55

    I hated that season

I loved that season as a Williams Fan. MOntreal was awesome. Patrese Won! :P

Hatred Senn/Prost McLaren 15 Wins out of 16. And They took each other out......

  • Will^ 17/08/2012 at 20:40:06

The throttle maps were changed so that the engine run harder at low revs - revs that would be used in slower-speed corners - thereby adding an EBD effect back into the mix.

  • Lukeh 17/08/2012 at 20:40:31

stuff happens and stuff does stuff to cause stuff.

  • Bassano 17/08/2012 at 20:40:55

Why is it that Mark Webber gets no credit for being second in the championship, btw? That makes me so frustrated that he's not in the 'title chase'.

Maybe cos no one believes they won't favour Vettel as the season draws on?

  • Steven Roy 17/08/2012 at 20:41:06

Mr C is right about how the throttle thingy worked

  • Davin S 17/08/2012 at 20:41:16

The throttle maps were changed so that the engine run harder at low revs - revs that would be used in slower-speed corners - thereby adding an EBD effect back into the mix.

Correct. The engine mapping was set up so that the engine revs weren't linear to the throttle position. Hence being illegal

  • lou 17/08/2012 at 20:41:24

MR C! you haven't seen any of Ted's notebook? (free on the website i believe?)

  • Bassano 17/08/2012 at 20:41:29

I loved that season as a Williams Fan. MOntreal was awesome. Patrese Won! :P

Mansell let him, like Austria 2002

  • Davin S 17/08/2012 at 20:41:50

Gary Anderson has a terrible lisp, and that drives me crazy. Don't care what he says. lol ;)

  • Lukeh 17/08/2012 at 20:41:51

Ted is a better presenter of knowledge, gary has a better background of it.

  • Jordan F1 17/08/2012 at 20:41:56

Did not Gary built a few good F1 cars? Ted, well not so much....

  • Will^ 17/08/2012 at 20:41:57

MR C! you haven't seen any of Ted's notebook? (free on the website i believe?)

    Yup. Post-Qual & post-race.

  • Pat W 17/08/2012 at 20:42:10

All these things sound complicated. I liked Chandhok's article in Autosport+ about the 1982 Williams, just a wheel, engine, brakes, go.

  • Pat W 17/08/2012 at 20:42:34

I agree about Gary, he's brilliant. He predicts laptime cutoffs in qualifying and they are spookily accurate.

  • Jordan F1 17/08/2012 at 20:42:38

Mansell let him, like Austria 2002

Mansell was too busy waving to fans coming out of the hairpin....

  • Lukeh 17/08/2012 at 20:42:48

I agree about Gary, he's brilliant. He predicts laptime cutoffs in qualifying and they are spookily accurate.

Question: Does anyone think that Rubens was right saying that IndyCar tracks were not acceptable for F1?

  • lou 17/08/2012 at 20:50:08

he wants to make it annual too... and he has celebs involved apparently.. and there is a BBQ.. and a Band..

Which other F1 driver is doing this for the fans and for charity? What more does he need to do for points!! :)

  • Pat W 17/08/2012 at 20:50:16

Question: Does anyone think that Rubens was right saying that IndyCar tracks were not acceptable for F1?

Yes for the most part. F1 cars are a lot faster on road courses.

  • Lukeh 17/08/2012 at 20:50:18

Question: Does anyone think that Rubens was right saying that IndyCar tracks were not acceptable for F1?

I think there's a big difference but I am an indy car newbie

  • Steven Roy 17/08/2012 at 20:50:34

Question: Does anyone think that Rubens was right saying that IndyCar tracks were not acceptable for F1?

Absolutely. Indycar safety is nowhere near as good and the tracks are way too bumpy

  • Jordan F1 17/08/2012 at 20:54:36

  • Pat W 17/08/2012 at 21:00:47

Autosport+ is very good. It's not big enough but it is good. I don't understand the press releases, or the rewritten ones.

Also their coverage of non-F1 isn't the best, particularly sportscars which is often a week behind sportscar specialists.

  • fiox 17/08/2012 at 21:01:28

Autosport... That magazine I read in ASDA on my walk around before putting it back where I got it from.

    F1Technical.net is pretty good though
