Giggles Radio - 1983 // A time travelling adventure back to the eighties

Published by Alex Andronov

Giggles Radio drives the Delorean out of the garage and sets the clock back to 1983 which was the car ceased production, that red rain fell in the UK (due to sand from the Sahara Desert), Pionieer 10 became the first man made object to ever leave the solar system, The Bill started on British TV (the show has been running longer than the name - the program was initially called "Woodentop"), the GPS system was opened for civilian use and KISS appeared on television without make-up for the very first time.

So join host Alex Andronov as he features a year from his life and plays the songs that either came out in that year or he experienced for the first time in that year. It's his Audio-graphy.

Join us for 2 hours (ish) of music, chit chat and random biographical information from 4pm.

I don't know what O levels are, really. (Copying Alex. But i really don't know what those are) We don't have tests to move on the different grades here, just the SAT"s for college entrance.

  • And an Alesis USB box... but I am not allowed to recommend Alesis even though mine's never been a problem because of Sidepodcast :)

ha. do not ever buy a io26. other alesis products have been good to me though.

alesis have dropped the product now, after just a year and a bit of sales. some people say they should've dropped it from a great height on day 2.

We take exams at 16 and you can then leave school so that gives you some qualifications or you can go on & do further exams to get into university. In my day the first set were called Ordinary (O) Levels and the next were called Advanced (A) Levels. They call O Levels GCSEs now but they are still exams in various subjects.

  • I don't know Martin you're a millionaire songwriter... maybe it doesn't matter?

  • Long intro...

  • On my notes

  • Great driving song

    Show notes! :)

  • It IS hard to believe those 2 songs came out the same year.

  • I have two kinds of show notes... White paper for stuff to say and yellow post it for long intro outros.

I've fluffed both long intros so far!

And the only thing on the white notes is that it was 1997 that Katrina and the waves won eurovision

  • It IS hard to believe those 2 songs came out the same year.

It's the bridge for the years

  • I have two kinds of show notes... White paper for stuff to say and yellow post it for long intro outros.

I heart color coding of any type.

  • Lots of great air drumming opportunities today. A nice supplement to the recommended 6 daily dances.

    Good thinking!

  • I have never actually heard this version before..

  • I remeber this song as the background music to a Miami Vice TV Show. The pyro firefighter I think it was...

  • I have never actually heard this version before..

Not popular in the UK for some reason... Huge in the states.

  • I have never actually heard this version before..

What do you think of it?

  • Not popular in the UK for some reason... Huge in the states.

    HUGE. Ubiquitous.

  • I lived in America at the time so...

  • What do you think of it?

Good but I'm not sure about the bits without vocal.

I can see why Tom Jones and Kelly Jones picked it.

  • I can see why Tom Jones and Kelly Jones picked it.

oh yes, that is really good. I like it better, I think.

  • The crazy choral bit there is always fun

  • Now this is a classic. :)

In Somerset they have illuminated carnival processions which over the years have grown to be big tractor-drawn floats all covered in bright lights with a booming sound system, powered by a huge generator it tows. I was at one of those 10 or 15 years ago and everything came to a halt because something happened further along, and the float that stopped by us was playing this... over and over.. the poor dancers had to keep going :)

  • wow. Been so long since I've heard this.

  • Wow, did not expect that you would be playing Princ ein his prime, Giggles ! Would have picked Raspberry Beret if I knew...

  • I had red corvette as an alternate... but this is the big one (to me)

  • Not When Doves Cry ?

  • Giggles, The only possible way you could have tied that link to anything would have been to 1986's Top Gun Anthem, which is played after Goose' death under similar circumstances...
