Live: Germany - Free Practice 2

Published

By Christine Blachford

Free Practice 1 was actually much more interesting than anticipated, plenty of action, some cars unable to stay on track, and even some fans in the grandstands!

Weather Update

There were dark clouds hovering throughout FP1 and we saw some light rain to test the drivers' wits. It didn't pour down though, and it looks like this afternoon will be much of the same.

One to Watch

Webber was the fastest man at the end of the day, but Fisichella was right up there. The Force India car was looking particularly handy at various points through the session, but was it just a one off?

Predictions Please

How many other Germans will fall off the track this afternoon? Will the rain spoil things for the fans? Will Rosberg get to top a timesheet this weekend?

Ah... It probably uses a lot of RAM. Did see an interesting stat the other day that while the new 3GS has double the RAM of the old model the important thing is how much space there is for Applications once the OS is loaded.

On the previous phone and touch the OS only left 40Mbs for applications. On the new one there is 150Mbs of space.

Force India, being legally obliged to stick with the FIA no matter what, has to hope for the best (i.e. 13 teams in the FIA series with everyone behaving sensibly). Otherwise there's nothing it can do about it.

Sorry, there's nothing more legally obliging for FIF1 than there is for the other teams IMO. I've heard Vijay and Ian's reasonings and while they sound good, in reality their position is no different to the other teams. They just have less money and must have been told (as with Williams) that they would get an advance if they sided with the FIA.

There is. Jordan, along with Williams and Ferrari, signed the 2005 agreement that compels them to be in F1 until 2012. A French court has confirmed its validity (albeit with Ferrari's, but Force India signed the same agreement except that it has no technical veto).

To be fair, there's natural disadvantage and imposing an articificial disadvantage. If there was a minimum weight for the driver/seat combination (while maintaining a minimum car limit), the KERS problem would be easily solved.

The problem is not really KERS it is tyres. The cars are well under weight anyway so the weight of KERS doesn't matter. The only reason that it is an issue this year is the front tyres are stupidly wide compared to the rears so a lot of weight hasto be moved forward.

Owing to Max's insane rules he has to name the 22 members of his cabinet before the election. It will be interesting to see how many of the incumbents will stand by Max and how many will stab him in the back and jump to Vatanen's side.

No, because the list is simply who'd be doing what post-election. If someone appears on both lists I imagine both sides will put a lot of pressure on that individual, but there would be no clashes because a maximum of one of the individuals can be elected into the Presidency at a time.
