We are now celebrating Goodwood Sunday, plus Wimbledon Finals day for the men's game and... actually, I think that's about it. Still, it is set to be a good day, and we are having a pretty good, relaxing weekend at SPC Towers. Finally, we are sitting back and taking stock of what we have got, and trying to improve things rather than bring new technology on board. Meanwhile, here are some F1 topics:
- Campos Racing have suggested that the lack of budget caps won't hinder them in 2010, so I am wondering if Max chose his new teams on the basis that they could survive without the caps? We know that USF1 were allowed in because they're working really hard on their funding, so is it all about the money? (Answer = yes.)
- Conspiracy theory of the day: Bruno Senna drove his uncle's title winning MP4-4 up the Goodwood Hill yesterday and trashed the gearbox. Lewis Hamilton was due to drive it today and has now been denied the opportunity. Coincidence or intention? Hamilton will now run last year's MP4-23 instead.
- Talking of Goodwood, we've had loads of people commenting as they navigate the grounds. Nick and Lukeh have both been in touch, and we were getting lots of snippets throughout yesterday about Newey and Glock. Expect more good stuff today.
That's enough to talk about for now, I reckon. It's a bit of a quiet weekend in terms of F1 news, as teams are either busy demonstrating or resting up for next week's race. Anyway, I'll see you in the comments.

Some people find that white noise helps their hearing after loud events, I personally felt that pink noise works better.

Also - some people use white or pink noise if they have tinnitus apparently.

Drizzling here. If it keeps up, race 1 (11.30-ish) should be interesting. If anyone's at a loose end it'll be on Eurosport (and in HD as well – keep up, F1!). Gabriele Tarquini is on pole – remember him?
Goodwood update: was grey at the start, but has brightened up. Haven't seen any f1 personalities yet, but was nearly run over twice by Senna's mclaren (it was being pushed into the paddock for static display)
There is a marshall at goodwood in the rally paddock who is the real bibendum!

Farfus tried to get down the inside of Menu(?), tapped his rear end which nosed him into the barrier, and in Farfus' recovery took out, I think, Tarquini. From there, chaos.
Also an accident off the start between a BMW and, it looks like, Jaap van Lagen's Lada.
Yup, van Lagen and Hernandez off the start, then Farfus and Menu later on in the lap. Monteiro tried to dodge up the inside to avoid it all but Larini was also aiming for the same spot. Car-nage!

Nobody. Richard Woods does the FIA's PR, the teams and drivers have their own PR officers, but neither CVC nor F1 as a whole has a PR person that I know about.
It's on Eurosport (and in HD) if you want visuals. Only race series where you'll see Ladas and BMWs swapping paintwork...

Did we discuss this in a daily ages ago? The secret is to live near a University that runs a teaching hospital. It's quite the done thing to get about in PJs as though they are scrubs.

Sniff of team orders going on: Priaulx had been pressuring Yvan Muller for third, then dropped right back on the final lap. Eighth place gives Farfus pole position with the reverse grid...
But why would BMW NOT want Priaulx 3rd?
Lower down the top 8 in race 1 means a higher grid slot for race 2. If Priaulx ended up 7th...
Farfus has the most points, so getting him on pole for race 2 became the priority; AP duly 'takes one for the team' and drops to ninth.
Ohhh. A shame - isn't he a former champ?
But I see what you mean. To me, the points and trophy would be more important than the starting place for Race 2. 3rd in R1 only puts you 6th on the grid, so it would just be a matter of getting a good start, holding station and capitalising on mistakes made by the guys in front.

Indeed. And every time, the industry BIBLE dutifully put him on the cover with the special green banner, knowing full well that they would take an enormous sales hit by not having an F1 cover (not that this ever washes with the twits who think it ought to have 750MC events on the cover).

I think the CAPITALS gives the mag name away in some aspect ;) They always do a different coloured banner when someone British wins something major in motorsport. They did that when Dario won the 500, with a blue banner.

Maybe Andy should start looking at other tin-top classes. Maybe DTM or V8 Supercars. Heck, come back to the BTCC!

At least the SEATs can work together to some extent. Especially in qualifying.

spending the day with Lukeh and Chris was just awesome! They are both such a laugh. and apart from the button parts of my day (basically my whole day as we kept coming across them), i would say getting to take loads of photos, and hearing the f1 cars again. bumping into jodie kidd was kinda cool too.
I like the way the celebrity just gets dropped in at the end. It's like one of Alex's subtle plugs. :)
ahaha you just wait till lukeh gets back, he's like the master of name dropping lol. my aunt had a massive chat to murray walker apparently. they were sitting and chatting for like 10mins after he finished his book signing, plus he gave her a personalised signed book. amazing :)

Saw Stirling Moss instead though.

I saw a few drivers I recognised walking about (David Brabham, Allan McNish, Emmanuele Pirro - though I thought he was Dindo - Stirling Moss, Jay Leno), a couple I think I recognised but I'm not sure (Johnny Rutherford and AJ Foyt Sr), and lots of people in overalls who I have no clue about, mostly from the older sportscars.
Was hoping to see more of DC and Glock - only saw them in the cars on the hill.
I was disappointed to arrive late from my own doing though. Got there at 11.15am! Ironically(?) that's possibly the earliest I've been there.
