Fantasy Racers Reminder - Monaco
Published
Given that Free Practice was yesterday, I've already had a good few hours to contemplate who to have in my team. I've given it some proper thought, evaluated all the options, interviewed all the drivers and... okay, maybe not.
I was tempted to take out Vettel, as Red Bull look like they've taken over all of Webber's bad luck so far this weekend. However, I still have faith in the youngster, so I kept him in. I immediately took Glock out, as Toyota haven't performed well so far. I have a horrible feeling this will be a bad decision, but never mind, it's too late now. I couldn't afford anyone that I wanted for Glock's price, so I decided instead to sell Buemi as well and opt for Massa. The Ferrari seems somewhat improved, and Monaco was his turning point last year. With Hamilton and Massa in the same lineup, this is starting to look eerily like last year!
| Driver | Price |
|---|---|
| Felipe Massa | 9.5 |
| Jenson Button | 13.8 |
| Lewis Hamilton | 11.3 |
| Sebastian Vettel | 12.9 |
The prices are correct at the time of writing. I have 4.4 million left over this week, and my team value is now 51.9. I think this represents the first time my overall total has gone down. It's a slippery slope, and I'm pretty sure I'm headed that way.
Monaco has confused things slightly, but the deadline for last minute changes to your team is 5pm BST (4pm GMT, 12pm EST). You can still sign up for a team if you haven't already, and join the Sidepodcast league - all the information you need is here. Once you've made your mind up, let us know who you're going for and what strategy you're employing.

I'm sticking with the usual trio (Button, Barrichello, Vettel). As for the other two, I've dropped Trulli and Kubica and gone for Webber and Sutil instead.
It's a big gamble, especially in going for Sutil, but if it works, I'll look like a genius. :D
Can you believe it Kubes is the third cheapest driver (5.1 million) and lost me a stack of cash. Keeping the same list of devaluating drivers that I have had from the third race. This year its boring!
I thought you were boycotting this year for that very reason.
I think you are onto something there - I think Sutil will do good. Still wondering if I should not swap Boobie-K for Adrian.
Why didn't you sell them?
Personally I think this year's system is fantastic ;)
Wonder why! :D
It's worth the gamble. Even if Sutil does poorly, as long as Webber does well, I'll be fine. But a sprinkling of rain will get Adrian very far... :)
To be honest, I did not see the implications of all the rule changes - so I was miffed even before the first race. Really have not changed drivers after the third race so it is sort of boycott by apathy - I still believe it is too orientated to making a good first choice. Do I actually swap the pole for the German?
You had both Brawns, you made the perfect choice!
I always think a driver will improve - Rosberg and Kubes in particular.
Cannot guess why? - congrats though you deserve your success!
Their problem was more of component reliability than actual pace. With the issues already ironed out, I think they'll do very well this weekend.
Hence why I didn't.
and like an idiot I swapped one out to get Alonso, I also had hop-a-long-Cassidy but sold him.
I cannot sell my favourite driver Timo even though he is going to suck here!
Now I'm thinking - should I get Massa? The guy has pace, but Ferrari has a penchant for screwing up when it matters...
Hmmm... Webber or Massa? Hmmm...
Keep whoever you think is more likely to finish the race.
Do you mean Vettel?
peg-leg webber, surely?
Oh yeaaaah, him... :D
You have the combination of a Red Bull and Webbo really likes Monaco.
It is fair to say it will be a shoot-out between Brawn and Red Bull and actually I think Lewis will get a look in too.
If yo have the money the best team would be Jenson, Rubens, DeSeb, Webbo and Lewis or better still if you have the money the two Ferrari drivers!
Lewis isn't cost-efficient right now - and I can't afford him! :D I'll stick with my lineup as it is. ;)
But the character hop-a-long Cassidy in the film versions was
"reserved and well spoken, with a fine sense of fair play. He was often called upon to intercede when dishonest characters were taking advantage of honest citizens"
I made reference to it as Mark usually has a lot to say in GPDA and sees himself as this within the association.
Of course the original hop-a-long Cassidy as in the books was a
"rude, rough-talking galoot"

I do feel sorry for Mark - just over a year ago, I broke my shoulder, collar and upper arm bones together with several broken ankle bones - all on the one side of the body. Not funny.
I've gone for him, him and that guy.
I don't really care anymore, this year is down the pan. I can't afford to win cos of previous selections, not even a race win.
I liked the old rules
Well, Palmer meets all the instructors, so that doesn't necessarily mean the job's definately his. But one good sign was that he got a call being told what cars he'd be looking after. He thought he'd just be on the Caterhams, but the guy said he'd be on the Jaguar JP1 Le Mans things. Apparently he's considered "a bit too advanced" for the Caterhams :D
Oops, how rude of me. Evening all :)
That's just... wow. Really happy for your dad. :D
Evening Scott
Well he'll back in about an hour, but I'm don't think he'll be told there and then if the job's his. But from my point of view, all factors and things considered, I think it's looking good for him :D
Time for a cheese sandwich while I watch the Simpsons on C4 me thinks ;)
You may wanna read the daily thread before you get the cheese sandwich.
Old Simpsons, I hope. Hasn't been funny in years that show
Sounds good.
I'm now heading out with the girlies down the hall. Going to a local comedy standup club.
Eh?
Have you read it already? If not, go read it. Now.
Gahh, I forgot again.
