A catchup with all that's happened since the Brazilian showdown, this episode of the Debrief takes in yet more Red Bull misfortune, that Toro Rosso shoot-out and what is going on in France.
Intro
We got a bit carried away with Sidepodpanel, but F1 Debrief is back!
Good Week / Bad Week
Good week for Martin Brundle who has a job, and Sebastien Loeb who thinks he could have had one if he wanted. Bad week for the Red Bulletin and the current points system.
News and Views
We look at Red Bull news which features the constant bad luck of Mark Webber. Now with a broken leg, he's going to miss out on some serious winter testing, but how much will that harm him? We also cover Force India news and ponder their McLaren B team status. Then it's time to think about what we saw in Barcelona testing, and finally take a look at what havoc Bernie is creating on the calendar now.
Feedback
One full voicemail with some end of season round ups to follow, and a half a voicemail as it's actually led on to a much better idea. There's also a couple of Facebook messages and a few emails as well.
Housekeeping
There's a new commenting feature to test out for us, some daily posts to try and create some order, and as ever, we want your feedback.

Looks like it's Mystic Lou again this week :)
You managed to edit all of that already. How is that remotely possible?
yay! am i the most mystic now :) I think i was even with Dom before...
also, how did you get that done sooo quickly Christine?! that's amazing!
Christine = super woman :)
If it was just 30 seconds less! I feel like Felipe. ;)
Aww. :)
awww. lol there is always next week :)
Buemi almost definitely driving for STR next season: http://www.aut...s/report.php/id/72237
I've decided I have to take drastic action to get used to those 2009 cars. So, I'm going to find a wallpaper of one for my laptop and keep it there until I'm used to the sight of them. I recommend this to everyone else. Yes, we might hate the sight of them, but at the end of the day, we're going to have to get used to them one day. :P
TED NEWS!!!! HE'S GOING TO THE BBC!
I'm only just back and you probably all know this already but I thought I would share!
Hello everyone.
http://news.bb...rmula_one/7745347.stm
WE DID NOT!!!!
...are you sure?
hi, btw.
It's in quarentine, as is my attempt to repost...
hi, btw.
"The pit-lane reporters will be Ted Kravitz and Lee McKenzie"
this deserves a post of it's own. gimmie 5.
Well they always say that it's important to work on your entrance. After two weeks off what a comment to start with.
[Pats self on back]
Spectacular! Both the news and the entrance. We missed you. :)
Halleluyah! We can still do Ted News! :D
Awww thanks!
do we need a sidepodsummary to fill you in on what you've missed?
I am sure Kathi can send the summary file she is working on. That should cover everything.
Get in. Mission 1 completed, now for Sato.
Lovin' the show. How you got 41 minutes amazes me, but you guys are the equivelent of an F1 God of podcastiry.
I just found this little David Coulthard video, http://www.you.../watch?v=0dX0GGVd3Is.
The end is priceless. So sad to see him go yet so happy to see him part of the BBC F1 transmissions.
Enjoy.
:)
should mention. title features bad language (even worse than dan's :) ), probably not safe for work.
True, actually forgot to mention that.
How many times did he, erm, swear last night? After the infamous, er, incident at the start.
think it was just the once. didn't realise we needed a swear box for hosts too :)
Although I've not tried your super-duper alpha commenting thing yet, you've hit upon the precise feature I've been desperate for without ever realising I needed it ;)
I struggle to keep abreast of what conversations are going on where, never quite sure which post to click on to get involved and usually only comment if I'm amongst the first readers on a post.
This should allow me to get a little more involved on a day-to-day basis. Thank you!
pls yell if you have any issues with it. i'm now running it most of the time.
there are issues, like lack of comment editing and stuff, but for a first revision it works quite well.
Its certainly allowed me to spot this and reply in double quick time ;)
Welcome back Alex!! :D I hope the holiday was good. Probably the best entrance you could have made :)
What is it with red bull and the name "sebastian" first team seb - vettel and bourdais and now leob, sureley they've exhasted all the sebastians in motor racing but if your is sebastian and webber is injured you're in luck.
to be honest, if you're not webber you're in luck :)
Well I'm hoping that one day, not too far away top gear creates an F1 team, but untill then "sebastian stig" will have to run down webber again
Toro Rosso look like having Sebastien Buemi in their team next season and Schumacher's half brother is Sebastian Stahl so there are a few options yet. I think if I was a young driver I would change my name to Sebastian just in case.
Christine and me:
I just left a message for your F1 review Mega Mix - is there only a 10 minute limit on your sidepodcast answer phone? I left a rambly message in the hope that you would just extract the bits that you liked later on... But I didn't quite finish off my message because it cut me off after 10 minutes :-(
Could I perhaps call again if it's OK? I mean, I don't want to cram the inbox full unnecessarily if others will try and call and leave a message for the Mega Mix...
pls call as often as you like.
if you tell us it's a replacement for the last call, we'll pretend we never heard the first. if it's a continuation we'll splice 'em together.
don't worry scott does it all the time ;)
Right, I'll do that. First I'll gather my thoughts and be a bit more coherent this time :-D
Does he leave messages with Bernie Ecclestone and Jeremy Clarkson impressions on them :-D ?
I was channel flicking earlier on and found Hammond on with Paul O'Grady plugging his latest book. Hammond for reasons I didn't hear was doing an impression of Clarkson. I onder if he heard Dan's wuestion last night and just fancied a go.
:D
Hi, cheers for playing my answer-phone message in this show guys :)
What do i think of you and the show? well i said it all in the answer-phone message, cheers :)
Well I've re-sent my voicemail ... hope it makes sense and you enjoy it :-)
I'm really looking forward to hearing all you guys in the 'Mega Mix' - it sounds like a really interesting idea...
cheers :)
Reminds me of the latest F1 Rejects podcast. Their top 10 was: top 10 Sebastians who they want to drive for RBR/STR. Hahaha!
I don't want to be a buzzkill but i think its a real shame hamilton won. He won fewer races than massa, he made more stupid mistakes than massa (Bahrain, canada, fuji a couple of examples) And his car and team didn't fail on him once. He has the fewest points per race for any champion since the new points came in.
My conclusion on 2008: Mclaren won hamilton the drivers championship, Ferrari lost massa the championship, Alonso the best driver :)
