McLaren lead the way once again, with Hamilton on a determined streak to sew up the title at the penultimate race. Tune in to today's F1 Digest for a recap of all Free Practice 3 and Qualifying action.
Free Practice 3
It turned into a nightmare day for Webber, as his engine gave up towards the end of the session. Heidfeld managed to top the timesheets, in an unusual move for BMW, who are more known for sandbagging during practice.
Qualifying
Hamilton had it sorted from the word go, whilst the BMW boys made things much harder for themselves. Ferrari did the best job they could, whilst Kovalainen felt disappointed with his out-of-touch position.
Conclusions
There seems to be a lot of talk about the lack of grip, perhaps the conditions are cooler than expected, or because Bridgestone are using different compounds. Some of the teams that are lower down the grid are hopeful for some rain during the race. I would imagine Hamilton is hoping there is none.

I love how you always refer to Heidfeld and Kubica as "The BMW Boys". Makes them sound like a teen sitcom duo :P
"Next on Nickelodeon, it's more slapstick humour with Nick and Rob. It's the BMW Boys!" :D
By the way, looking at how many FR points Hamilton could score by himself, I believe if he won and scored fastest lap tomorrow, any others will see me overtake Christine at last. I'm thinking given the form he's been on this weekend, a la fastest in every session bar FP3, you should be worried. Very worried ;)
I need at least 200 more than Christine to pass her and from Hamilton I could get:
Pole Position - 20pts
Race distance completed - 67pts
Win - 150pts
Fastest lap - 20pts
Total - 257pts
I rest my case :P

My Prediction:
DC will tw@t someone and/or a barrier. Has anyone counted the Scot's collisions this season? Must be encroaching on some sort of record for a single season...
And my serious prediction:
HAM
RAI
ALO
MAS
KUB
HEI
VET
PIQ
My race prediction stands:
Hamilton
Vettel
Heidfeld
Kovalainen
Massa
Alonso
Raikkonen
Kubica
Australia - With Massa
Bahrain - With Button
Monaco - With the wall
Britain - With Vettel
Italy - With Fisichella
Japan - With someone
6, I think Piquet has spun more
Australia
Spain
Monaco
Britain
Italy
Singapore
Only 6 as well.
My pre race predictions
DC
NP :D
really
Raikkonen
Massa
Kovalainen
Alonso
Kubica
Vettel
Piquet
Glock
I reckon Kimi will overtake Hamilton at the start, and he'll bottle it again.
Hi everyone. I am back from three weeks holiday. Did I miss anything? :)
My predictions
Hamilton
Kovi
Massa
and it's the turn of Kimi to crash into Coulthard.
Erm, no, Kubica has just won two in a row, has been simply unstoppable, Hamitlon and Masa have been no where to be seen, constantly spinning off the track.
I suppose you want the truth though :D
:D
To tell you what really happened:
Singapore
Massa got the pole by 6 tenths, but his pitcrew messed up and ended up pulling the fuel hose out of the rig when the guy controlling the traffic light system wasn't concentrating and lifted his finger off the button. He got a drive through for also unsafe release into the path of, of all people, Sutil.
Hamilton had a relatively solid race finishing 3rd despite getting stuck behind DC for a while
Alonso amazingly took the win after first pitting early which seemed to destroy his race, but conveniently his teammate Piquet crashed and caused a safety car which won him the race ahead of Rosberg and Lewis.
Raikkonen also binned it with a few laps to go.
Japan
Lewis won the pole, but was beaten off the line by Kimi. In his attempt to get back past, he locked up and forced Kimi wide, as well as most of the field outbraking themselves into Turn 1. Then on the second lap, Lewis tried to pass Massa, who went wide and in an attempt to take the place back, went over the kerb and hit Lewis, spinning him round and putting him 18th. He ended up 12th after getting a drive-through for "forcing Kimi off the track at the start".
Massa got a drivethrough for the collision with Lewis, and then also got involved in a collision with Bourdais at turn 1 as the latter was exiting the pits. Le Seb got a 25 second penalty after the race and lost his points place.
Alonso and Kubica were the main stars of the race, with Alonso winning his second in a row and Kubica 2nd despite pressure late in the race from Raikkonen.
Coming into China, Lewis holds a 5 point lead over Massa, with Kubica 12 points back from Hamilton in 3rd. :)
Also, Massa was 7th by the way after being promoted from 8th due to Bourdais' penalty.
I think we've found the new host of F1 Digest :D
I dunno about that, Christine does a bang up job as it is :)
Has everyone gone to bed before getting up for the race or something? LOL :) Just seems quite quiet round here and I'm a little bored, apart from singing to myself :P
Oh thank god I'm not the only one singing to myself.
Though will be gannin to bed now, apparantly I have a game tommorrow as well.
We're never here when you want us to be, Scott :)

Germany
ah yeah you're right, thanks
:D
me too!
I use it all the time
I would do that, but I doubt the guys at GAME would appreciate it very much if I did it while serving customers.
"Excuse me one moment, I need to check if Hamilton's buggered up again. Won't be a sec."
:P
Is there anything else you do apart from eat nachos, sleep, drink indescriptive energy drink/squash/beer/wine, demand nachos, get upset when you can't have nachos, laugh, disagree with Christine all the time and be on here? :P
you forgot podcast making ;)
aye that too :P
you have a job a GAME? that's cool! i love just browsing in GAME, as i don't have enough money to buy all the games i would like, but now that i have a wii i keep looking out for good games etc :)
that pretty much covers it yes.
Well not yet, but hopefully I get the phonecall which means I have the job rather than the letter which means I don't. But yeah, it would be pretty much a dream job. Plus you'd get 25% discount on all games and 10% discount on all hardware! :D
Cheaper F1 09 game, here I come (hopefully)! :D
What's GAME
well good luck :)
Just as I thought :D
So when Christine comes home, i can imagine you instantly saying "Hi christine, can I have nachos?" and when she says no, you get in a sulk, and then when Christine gets annoyed, you laugh and her and explain it's funny because she's wrong. :P
Yeah, you can tell i'm bored :D
tis a shope that sells games for different platforms like wii, ps3, xbox 360 etc...
http://www.game.co.uk/
nah, she's come home and says "you slept through the fantasy races deadline again, and now you're stuck with alonso".
she does that a lot.
lol has it changed in the last few weeks to "you slept through the fantasy racers deadling again, and now you're stuck without alonso" ;)
sadly, yes :(
aww :( but he has been doing well on track which is all that matters really. :)
"rain rain come again, make lewis the champion!" :D
So no Parade Lap then? ;)
gah!
They just won't let it lie, will they? :P
No Parade Lap?
At 6 in the morning? not sure they'd appreciate it, as much as I would like one as well.
no.
like you're gonna be awake at 6am ;)
Ah not this again... :P
IT'S NOT MY FAULT! I LIKE SLEEP! LEAVE ME ALONE! :D
i know do, and i don't blame ya.
but you can't claim to be upset that we're opting to sleep as well though, can you?
;)
Who said I was upset about you guys sleeping? why would I be? everyone has to, LOL!
I was kidding in my last comment by the way :P
talking of sleep, i'm tired so i'm gonna get some. will be up at 7 to join you guys. if anyone's staying up at all, have fun ;) morning all...
nah, gonna turn in shortly. no bathurst and the laguna seca race doesn't have streaming video.
Lightweights!
Today has dawned cloudy and is expected to remain so. The rain will probably hold off.
Roldan Rodriguez said he could barely see by the end of yesterday's GP2 race, so expect the F1 brigade to be using clear rather than tinted visors today.
In other news, the headline from today's Red Bulletin: "China in his hands"
guilty.
they've been waiting a long time to use that :)
can't listen to it again, we just can't.
