Celebrate Good Times - Come On!
Published
Into our fourth podcast of the day and we're still going strong. This is F1 Debrief, otherwise known as Sidepodcast Weekly, otherwise known as the Sunday Show, otherwise known as... no, I think that's it actually.
We'll be discussing the race we've just witnessed in Italy, but there'll be all the other good stuff as well, such as Good Week / Bad Week, News and Views, and of course, your feedback.
However, the feedback side of things is an ongoing process, and more than ever, we want to hear from you. The Live Commenting is available by clicking the triangle in the corner, and if you're feeling up to it, we want calls via Skype. We'll give out all the details in the show.
We speculated we'd be ready at 9pm, but in true Sidepodcast style, things are ever so slightly behind schedule, so let's say 9:15pm UK time. What's fifteen minutes between friends, eh?

Hey!
Heh, it's been another long day. But for better reasons this time.
You mean I am actually early
We may need to mention to me the change to the size of the thingamabob... :)
hey michael, just warming up here. nearly ready.
anyone feeling brave for phoning in some vettel congrats?
Hey... i'm around... just doing some ict and pychology homework...
Should be changed. Maybe refresh?
So, was Vettel's win the first win for a Ferrari customer team?
Ah yes all good now :)
I refreshed before and it shrank to half its original size. I am not sure I want to gamble on that happeneing again
So it says not broadcasting... What does that mean again? ;)
Hi guys. I'll hang around for a bit.
It's been one long day...
haha!
So Shaun sent me a message saying he's bought a copy of my book. So let me tell all you advertising types. Product placement on Sidepodcast works! :)
Has anyone looked at the top commenters list recently. I had no idea we made so many comments
Scott Woodwiss (1535)
Alex Andronov (1297)
lou (1225)
Steven Roy (1031)
Alianora La Canta (678)
What worries me is that I'm making just under double the 5th placed person!!!
I should really stop changing my name
Ollie,
I see you took the 9 month old Williams stuff off your site.
I don't mind, MotoGP just wrapping up. :) Indy saw even WORSE conditions than Monza... yet no one fell off either. Amazing stuff.
omg i'm in the 1000's again? when did that happen?? you're right... we make alot of comments...
hahaha :)
It's the live commenting that does it for me!
I'm guessing Me and Christine are excluded from the maths.
Don't tell me the result they don't start showing it here for another two hours
If you don't want to know the result... Please look away now.
I'm not going to say the result. I just wanted to say that.
Alright, Steven. Just a heads-up, though: 250cc race is cancelled. :)
They can't get a word in edgways at times.
*runs and hides*
See it's things like this that mean I have so many comments.
No matter how much I comment, that's quite a target.
Too late just checked another F1 site for some info and the result is there. Unfair.
Pats consolingly on the back
What's a thingamabob?
I've meaning to order a copy since you mentioned it on Identi.ca, just out of curiosity more than anything.
Err, no. Every article I've written for BF1 is still there, that's kinda the point of a blog. *off to check me site for goblins and gremlins...*
Edit: It's all still there, Steven. All 1,200 odd articles, including the Williams post form January. What was the problem you encountered? Error message or something...?
Pats R.G. on the back, patting Steven on the back...
What's an F1 site doing showing MotoGP results? Oh well. :) Quite a good race, though. Hair-raising at times, given the conditions.
The live commenting live thing.
I am happy with the winner but I would have preferred to watch it without knowing the result.
What did you make of the new Indy layout? I haven't seen it yet
Sidepodcast HQ are live!
It changes size based on if there is video...
We got action!
Christine
Live!
wooooooooooooooooooooop
Yes!
Sounds good
Yay!
Live & clear
I can hear you, the sound is good! :)
hey hey
ah no its the curse of the not-broadcasting/buffering bug AGAIN!
hey guys :D
It's just the same as the old one, Steven. Except they cut out F1's Turn 13 and they're running counter-clockwise. :)
It said 9:15 on the justin tv thing when you went live!
Excellente!
Tired but happy is a good title!
It looked like you had changed the Williams 500 race thing after my comment last night
Screen grab going to drop.io!
pink wine?! yeagh!
Red wine is what I'm drinking too...
But Red Bull won today, 'me'! :P You shoulda been drinking it today. :D
It's not Chritine's, it's me's! :D
Well, Toro Rosso won, but ya get what i mean. :)
meee
Yes, It's Red Bull day!
Oh, I don't think I did.
@Sidepodcast: The comments are really long, which means I cannot see the video and the comment box in the same screen.
That's the thing you need to refresh!
It is working
Two windows
Sorry, I'm withya now. Thanks.
It keeps changing
haha, the boy makes sense
Where is Bibendum????
Woo woo.
Go Vettel!
Go Vettel! :)
She's gonna start the hair twiddling again!
Go Vettel! Not a bad title. :)
Hey, Bibendum! :)
Just slightly?
Haha, you won't get that on BBC next year
Oooooh dear.
Oh dear, they need Bernie's umbrella too
I love the British attitude though. Carry on going, no matter what. :)
Hehe. Very true. :)
Absolutely.
The green prix. Honda would do well there!
Not the Nurburgring, noooooo!
Good point me. Maybe they'll find a way around it now. You never know!?
Snoreburgring
Good point, 'me'. But Vettel won't be winning titles anytime soon yet, though. So his value isn't THAT high yet to warrant 2 German GPs. :)
A lot!
Of couse it is...
Your going in my bad book
Sorry R.G
I like Hockenheim :D
I like the old Hockenheim.
Going in twice
Rising stars is one thing. Lewis isn't even enough to possibly save the 1 British GP.
Szafnauer... he's been with the Honda team for a while, right? I think he was there since the BAR days. Ross making a leaner Honda thing.
A classic. A little bit boring but still a classic.
But that's because Bernie HATES Silverstone... It's a personal thing, methinks, with Bernie. :)
Did Me just get the Good Week, Bad Week.
Old chap!!!
Me, don't forget to breathe this week :D
Someone put 50p in the meter.
I'm having to watch the feed on justin.tv cause the feed on here was too jittery...
Are you sure it's not raining there and the electricy has gone?
hehehe
hahahaha
me talks to himself?? hehehe
Run out to the shop marjorie for some change
But aren't they just one and the same feed, lou? Sidepodcast just has an embedded receiver for it.
I'm loving this weekend. For the first time ever, everything is working! :)
Did we actually get the "News and Views" sweep?
We did
Yep.
Yep, I is dumb and proud.
Well, I would agree with me being stupid, but Christine?
Race control told Massa to give a place back today, did they phone Ferrari?
Good then :)
*Runs off and does homework*
Idiot, like the half-wit Stewart?
Weekend at Bernies!
We all stand in awe of Max
Title: "I think he'll leave even after he dies." Prolly a bit controversial though.
*I don't think...*
:D
Max's imaginary friends
Someone write it down. I'm sure I just did. :)
I have started a list
Steven is king of the lists!
is it my pooter, or are they quieter tonight?
Me three. Hahahahahaha!
Me's very confident there!
A little
@Jon: Okay here.
Sound seems OK to me Jon
yeah it's ok here...
its ok now, the dishwasher was ok lol
*on
A line up almost as impressive as that at Sidepodcast towers :)
Yup. Sound is OK.
More (excuse my spelling) beauracracy.
Me is slightly quiet. But things sound mostly good.
Turned the dictionary on now: bureaucracy
oh no!! i'm getting buffering!!
Sounds like the E.U
Oh dear.
i've had that ever since they went live :(
that was meeee
Christine doing one helluva job of multi-tasking this evening.
Oh no Scott every time!
argh it's annoying.....
Title nom: "It was raining properly"
i'm starting to catch every other word.... and then it comes up not bradcasting...
i know, it's really frustrating :(
Thought Me was buffering for a moment. Maybe inside his head?
exactly the same as mine
http://www.justin.tv/sidepodcast is a little bit better... but not much...
:D
Cockiness
Because it's Lewis Hamilton
That was very suprising about Lewis tyre choice.
That was happening to me this morning... maybe a bandwidth issue?
Payback for Belgium?
Haven't learned their lesson.
Kovi's almost too sensible.
oh it's starting to settle down....
Kimi = drunk ?
Very bad for Kimi.
Outclassed by Fisi too
Oh dear :)
Kimi 20 points down on Massa with 30 points left.
Good job for Force India!
FIF1
Kovi doesn't generate the same tyre heat as Lewis
Jordan D.N.A.
40 left
hahahaha
Yes.
oops. thanks for the correction, Steven Roy. :)
Christine is alot more energetic today.. she is swaying and everything :)
Agreed!
Maybe she has chocolate ice cream
Me is on the ball tonight!
buffering = very very very very very very very very annoying!!!!
I make three then. :)
Ah! Perhaps off-screen! :D
On a roll too. :)
I ain't sayin' nought! :D
OLLIE!!!
Lou AND Scott, 'me'.
Don't SAY that, me
oh hang on.... it seems better.......
"Never bring the server down", don't murray it
People deflated Christine!
Good point!
WRONG THING TO SAY
NOW EVERYTHING WILL BE IN CAPS
IT SURE WILL
YES STEVEN I AGREE!
hahaha :)
Too bad you can't lose your voice on a keyboard, eh? :P
hahaha
EVERYONE'S SHOUTING
Journeyer beat me to it
HAHAHA
argh the buffereing is back......
Title: "A very aggressive lap". Not funny but maybe true?
Now that Christine mentioned 'looking back', I want my Sidepodcast history podcast now! :D
aww from what i can see Christine is dansing :)
Miniseries!
its like good cop bad cop, me was hyper this week, and christine is this week!!!!!
i wonder who will be next week!
Again
Poor BBC though. ITV and Sky made them not allowed to put it up for free!
Sidepodcast flashback!
I almost took my archives down earlier today because someone got confused by them.
More dancing, yay!
But guys, didn't you like promise something along the lines of telling the story of how Christine became an F1 fan? or something like that anyway... :)
Wrong STR!
They did!
That was awful!! :( sooo upsetting
Topic for a Parade Lap?
Poor Bourdais... :(
Me promised it!
Without Christine's permission clearly
lol i love that it's news to christine :)
Will she say champaaaaaaaagggggggne?
Are we gonna hear her voicemail?
Ah-HA! That should be a lovely interview, guys. :) I think that started after the... cruise trip. :)
Mummy me?
It was from a question from me origionally...
Oooh... Touchy! :D
I WANT THAT!!!!!!
Ah actually it might well have been Journeyer yes!
:D
So 'me' doesn't watChristine's podcasts and she doesn't read his comments.
hahaha
Hahahaha
I think she did...
At least it's even!
are you trying to make trouble Steven? :P
Good reason why its called a safety car
Heat their brakes up without a big pile up on turn 1
Single file start?
<blockquoteTopic for a Parade Lap?
I hope not... I'd love it in audio format. And the interview would have to be edited too. :D
But you may have been the guy who brought it up, Alex.
I think it was the right plan.
Lack of traction
Vettel caught Kovy sleeping at the restart, BIGTIME.
Hi Sidey: What did I miss?
Hey Jordan
There was 10/15 minutes between the siter lap and the start. Easier behind the safety car to know what was happening I guess.
They are going great guns!
Well, that will make the gal happy....
They have had a domestic
Oh dear the show notes have gone walkies.
you need to stop being silent.. i keep thinking my speakers have died...
domestic... confrontation? Hee. :D
Not yet Steven! But...
Rules written on a blackboard
i still have the non-broadcasting/buffering bug :(
I don't think they change the rules each time...
Even their domestics look cute! Hehehe.
Title: Addendum
hey Clapper!
I missed a domestic, again, oh hum. Not again....
Absolutely :)
Rules written on a dry marker board
I think it was because it was wet
Maybe that's the problem with the tyre stripes
TED NEWS!
Darn, missed the part where they say "Sidepodcast ...bought to you by Michilin"
:D
This was Martin's view. Correct I thought!
Don't Ferrari know Charlie shouldn't be distracted
James Allen actually said something quite sensible today. This rule is the hot topic. Next month it'll be something else.
It's Being A Bad Thing To Be A Ferrari Car Right Now <-- title suggestion
Is that the computer I found during the dive today?
Need to install "caffeine"
I just think it's easier to say it was the wrong decision after seeing the start behind the SC go incident-free. At the time the conditions looked too dangerous and I'd rather no see a repeat of the crash at the start of the GP2 race, when a driver couldn't see the braking point for the spray.
Obviously Me could run over and fix it... But...
I've got an iMac. Just smack it, that tends to work.
Christine, get Caffiene for Mac. It'll put a little clickable thing at the top that you can click on and off quickly and it won't sleep. Or sleep, depending on your choice,
A shame James Allen is making more and more sense as his tenure is coming closer to an end.
Soz, a bit late!
Oh that's his excuse!
It's true. It really is called Caffiene.
It's a good app
Dom did answer!
I wanted to keep you waiting... :)
Now I would dispute Hamilton flying, I thought Red Bulls had wings, not McLaren
Or you could press Alt-F
Caffeine: http://www.mac...com/info.php/id/24120
Absolutely.
The GP2 race started behind the safety car
I believe they just wanted a rolling start, more than anything. Belgium 2000 started the same way.
Starting behind the safety car means that the speed is higher at the braking zone
Use hair dryers to dry the track....
There's a plug under the mic.
Socket I think he means!
*Please stand by.*
lol PRESSURE!
Must stop being a pedant!
hahahahahaha!!!!!!
Bibendum's dancing now
Fair enough. I guess I've stuck to my opinion at the time that the SC start didn't make a huge diffrence to the racing.
Oh no he does mean plug!
Thnak you very much, people...
*We are currently experiencing technical difficulties. Please bear with us.* :)
run christine run!!!!
:)
Hahaha
A few circuits have jet engines on the back of trucks for track drying
That was me!
Time to talk amongst ourselves, then... :)
Ding-Dong
We need some HOLD music
So energy drink makes him constantly speak. Wine makes him forgetful.
hahahaha!! :D
That was the fastest move of the day :)
BTW, last time Fisichella outqualified a Ferrari and a McLaren was Brazil 06
Fisi 6th, Schumi 10th and De La Rosa 12th
Try "All time High" for hold music.
Moist me, we need a safety MIC
Some elevator muzak would do great! :)
Title: "I'm rather moist now"
Thats the wrong sport
:D Shame it'll get cut, prolly.
YES
Absolutely! No chance!
even though i'm still suffering from the buffering bug, i can say - no non-descriptive energy drink tonight, christine? :P
It applies to the race too! :D
my buffering problem seems to have gone away again btw
We need a 50-50 mixture, Ollie.
Considering it was a Red Bull that won... Neither of them are drinking it tonight!
He had to come in to pit
Sidepodcast Double-meaning!
Vodka Red Bull?
Jet track dryer
http://www.madv8bike.com/id14.html
I said that at the start! They swapped Red Bull for Red Wine. :)
Don't jinx it Lou!
Red Bull & Rose. Nice.
Excellent.
looks live they've converted to the non-descriptive fruit-based squash. :P
Stephen Roy knows... EVERYTHING!
I know stuff
Are those the red things that were buzzing around the Monza pitlane pre-race.
Rolls Royce Viper - old skool
Christine wants a panda and 'me' wants a Jet track dryer lol!!
Great mumbling from Me :)
The Sidepodcast jet truck! A more important purchase than Ted I'd say.
That's one hell of a christmas list!
hehehe
Do not forget the groundhogs....
I think it'd be hard not to tell what they are beneath the wrapping paper.
through the buffering, i can hear Me in absolute hysterics! :D
Title in there somewhere
Wet as an otter's pocket
Even better
Christine liked it almost as much as Frank last week.
lol you have a bath though?
Title quality, too! :)
Sidepodcast christmas show!
Christine unwrapping a panda!
Title: As wet as an otters pocket. Again, it'll likely be cut.
But not as useful. Ted's real middle name is pocket-knife.
Title: "Because that's the one defining thing that's stopping you getting a panda"
hahah :)
Settle for a Vettel win in Monza?
Otter in the bath!
Pocket-knife? Maybe you mean McGyver. Hahaha!
hahahaha
Title: "You'll reek!"
Make the edit?
Sorry!
We can't distract him!
We're not saying anything!
i hope so
might sound weird but if someone could put together a sound clip of a montage of just Me laughing, I would listen to that all day and never tire of it :D
'me' does have a great laugh :) always makes me smile.
I'll tell you now: it DOES sound weird. :P
Someone has a man crush
Who here has lots of spare time?
what, it's a great laugh!
Yeah, but, no, but, yeah
:D
All your mistakes, that must have taken quite a few hours
Yours was yeah
exactly... wasn't it?
I hope I didn't miss anything. I had to go and throw a spider out of the living room!
It's been very funny
I thought it was yeah...
Title: "I would know that if I looked at my show notes"
Missed the rent again?
i hate spiders
Hahahaha
You missed
"As wet as an otter’s pocket"
&
“Because that’s the one defining thing that’s stopping you getting a panda”
I have a strange mental image now...
Got both of those
There was a sudden shout from Katherine! It was a rather large spider!!!
That was not even a good rear-gunning performance form Kimi.
The Otter must've missed it
I think I got those bits!
if the race had gone on for another hour he would have won it.... - wasn't it?
If it's a man eating spider then only Me has to worry.
Spiders... I'll be running away now.
Did anyone read my comment on the last time Fisi beat a McLaren and a Ferrari?
Please repeat R.G
Yep, I did. :)
'me' how long have you been watching f1??
last time Fisichella outqualified a Ferrari and a McLaren was Brazil 06
Fisi 6th, Schumi 10th and De La Rosa 12th
:D True
i'm confused.... what?
going back to the laugh thing just briefly, my favourite time was on the goodwood 2007 podcast when he laughed about jenson having "you can't blame the car this time, Jense" shouted at him during the cycle race :D
Relatively speaking one's soft and one's hard
There's Super Soft, Soft, Med, and Hard, and Super Hard tires aren't there?
I didn't see it, probably because of Spiders.
It's above Scott's last post
Too much rose me
Another way of looking at them: Prime and option. And then wet (inter) and extreme.
I thought there was only one spider
The only Spyder that would keep me away from Sidepocast are made by Porsche....
Rosberg
There was one spider in the living room. But there is another spider outside. This caused further problems.
not sure if you guys are watching the justin.tv comments but someone just asked
'So, was Vettel’s win the first win for a Ferrari customer team?'
ah, the RS Spyder. great car, that :P
Alternative to the jet dryer a truck with a squeegee
http://www.fli...14664/in/photostream/
Good point!
Think so
Me and Christine are actually having a similar conversation that I have in my mind occasionally.
Peter Windsor said in the post-race unilaterals that it was the first since 1957.
Title: "Stupid Bridgestone, with your stupid names"
hahahaha 'me's rants are funny :)
I want a Squeegee truck to go to work
The tyre names do confuse me as well sometimes.
Me's greatest hits on loop :)
Do it for womans thingys!
Both of them sound like there where in the rain at Monza.......
:D
hahaha
That was nice of Alonso.
Alonso was happy Minardi finally did it. Minardi took the risk on him, after all.
It was very good that Alonso went and found Vettel
yeah that was nice of Alonso :)
Everyone wanted to congratulate Vettel today, was nice to see
Agree with Christine!
Good for the sport. Much needed.
That was a freakin' walk in the park for Vettel!
Tis true
Clearly a great chap!
Iagine Minardi don't exist any more
Beating Ferrari
Imagine
Title: "National Anthem of Formula One"
There D.N.A is there though
"Their"
Toro Rosso have won BEFORE Red Bull did!
I don't think he cares...
I was hoping Super Aguri to pull that off on Honda....
It's not as if Red Bull are doing badly either...
I put on my Minardi t-shirt after the race. I was pleased for the fact that although they aren't Minardi anymore, they finally won, sort of.
Bumps up the price of STR if have to sell
Say DNA again and i will kill you!!!
The win AND the pole.
i don't think he cares... to have a win for any of his teams is brilliant
:D
Berger will only sell the Red Bull half. He's keeping his half.
um... DNA?
Simple solution - allow customer cars but customer teams can't be involved in the constructors championship.
Remember when Ferrari said no, they didn't want to move from RBR to STR? Thjey relented in the end, but it was touch and go.
James allen has broken me :(
ooops
Gee, the guy who built awesome Williams teams and McLaren teams......
It was Newey
The Ferrari engine ran too hot for him to package it as tightly as he wanted
Someone mentioned Newey's tight package earlier today :D
Agreed!
Ferrari will tell Newey, 'we told you sooo...' :)
YES YES YES
TSK!
ONLY the people?
The bloke interviewed today was the same!
I DONT CARE!!!! JAMES ALLEN MAKES ME ANGRY!!!
But let them build their own car again...
Good point!
No people deserve a win more than those Minardi workers...
I am disappointed that Alesi's #27 Ferrari could not make the podium as well as Berger...
hahahaha :)
me, i think red bull cars work better with the renault engine, but the renault engine is arguably one of the slowest in f1 right now, and the ferrari engine are one of the fastest.
James Allen makes everybody angry
Aeronautical studies for most I bet, aircraft technology
The A Team... with DC as BA Baracas.
Montreal, I think.
true....
'They get less support than the A team...' sorry that just made me laugh! :)
STR whooping RBR at season's end again - just like last year! STR have been making better setup calls than RBR now.
My God! Jon's turning into the Hulk!
He He
I've been getting more annoyed by Ryder recently...
SAY THAT AGAIN!!! THAT MAKES ME HAPPY!!
James Allen isn't that bad, Steve Ryder is much worse.
'me' do you know that? he may go to the bbc.....
wow. you're right! 7 years of Allen...
"Title: "Really, we're counting down the days now"
hahahahaha
please no, i'll pay you never to say that again
i'll call in if you want :)
Should I call in?
Is Brundle confirmed at the BBC?
He's much richer too.
With D.C.?
calling in too... :)
Title: "They'd take a lot of people before James Allen"
That might be a hint from Bernie and Brundle, there.
That was a slightly odd comment on the grid.
I think he lost the plot.
DO YOU STILL WORK FOR ITV???
you're showing as online for me, so should i try?
I thought maybe Bernie had said something to the BBC.
hahah lol it would be my worse nightmare... but tbh you never know who makes the decisions... i mean who the hell decided he would make a good replacement for murray in the first place. :P
Hope so
Bernie knows!
I think that was Jordan!
Sounds like Journeyer
how many times will 'me' say 'hello' today :)
Hello?
Houston, we have a problem.
Ah it's journier
oh hey my feed has started working properly!
That's it Journeyer
It is not me.
Can't hear journeyer...
Any marshalls here tonight?
I get confused very easily.
Journeyer the man!
That's why I suggested Jordan Alpha and Jordan Bravo...
lol!
Does make me curious...
It came from nowhere and went nowhere...
A lot of maiden wins are double podiums. Jordan, BMW, Stewart as well, I think.
we could be expecting keith any time soon :P
Martin can't say.
Bernie knows all
Is Kovy confirmed for '09? He best pick the pace up or he'll get sacked.
Yes. In his own way...
yup, he was confirmed at hungary
yeah he is.
Where's Christine gone?
Bernie World
Out of the lime-light.
She needs to get out of the limelight!
she is secretry for the moment.... looking after skype... i think....
i'm in charge of skype :)
More chocolate ice cream?
Woah Mystic Ollie. Get out of my mind!
:D
probably coming up with the plans for her panda already :P
Oh yeah, the receptionist
Hey, I'm not Mystic anymopre, Lou is. :)
I can call in :)
right....ive calmed down....
Well, we managed, didn't we. :)
oh yeah... i forgot about that....
It's a severe case of Allenitus
Someone Banner.
Bruce Baner was the Hulk
Someone Banner is right!
Why, Ollie? Wondering about that. Hehehe. :)
Audio problem!!
"Who's on the line today?"
Hi Scott...
Gosh I can hear many versions of Me
What you were speakng about at the start of your convo. Sounded pretty manly to me.
Nooooo!
I'm just laughing, 'me'... It's like you were on mute! Hahaha!
No worries. :)
can i call in again? :P
Don't give 'im wine anymore.
No lead!
It was all going so well...
hahahahah
Few tech issues today, too much Rose
ahaha
"It's a riot!"
'me' maybe the energy drink is the better option....
Sounded pretty stupid to most of my friends and family. i was THAT close to throwing Singapore away, just like that!
He's better when he is hyper
lol i think Vettel will be a nice version of Schumi :)
A less controversial one, I hope. :)
Coulthard had another oops
The new Sato
White car in white spray. Not surprizing.
Hopefully he wont be quite as dominate, although I'd be happy to see loads more wins. :)
Big run-off area at first turn at Spa
Thing is, DC's retiring, Sato might be back.
I'm going to take my CAPS LOCK key and go, i think its time for a long bath, and my bed.....
Goodnight.....
Jon "HULK" Waldock
Gosh, I hope not
Apparently jet track dryers can be dangerous
http://autorac...-debris-in-eye-is-ok/
night Jon :)
Hi Alex!
Night HULK
i'm guessing alex - and i'm right! :D
Bye Jon
hey Alex
Wow, nice find Steven. I don't think me should be allowed to be in charge of a track dryer now.
there's 20 people viewing sidepodcast live according to justin.tv :P
not when he is hyper or drinking rose anyway :P
very very valid point there alex
Good idea
I'm one of those people :P
Kovi is just Lewis' hired rear-gunner from teh first race of the season.
yeah, but who says toro rosso will still be toro rosso next season?
What thingamabob?
Me too
The shoutbox
oh right, ok :)
EXACTLY, Alex!
I couldn't help but think it should have been one of the other podium finishers should have been in that McLaren...
hmm, i wouldn't really agree with kovi outdriving lewis. sure he was ahead on track, but in terms of how he performed during the race, lewis was way more impressive than him. I mean, what exactly did kovi do all afternoon?
Kovi got beat by a Toro Rosso...
Let's remember that Kovy wants a hard-fought win, his only win was the inherited one in Hungary.
Are you gonna mention the champaaaaaagne challenge?
I'm so predictable!
no.... it was scott woodwiss... but anyway..
What about "Toooooooooorrrrrrrrroooooooo Rooooooosssssssssoooooooo"
lol, that's probably the first time me's said sidepodcast for a looooong time :P
Small thingummy
'sweeper sweeper' lol
Who said that?
i'm surprised the fantasy racers doesn't have it's own sweeper like news and views, etc.
Yup! Only problem was that Lewis' weak point was Kovy's strong point: race strategy.
Lewis was far more impressive.
Try the theme sond for the movie "grand Prix" for the into to Fantasy Racers.
Howdy doody!
lol, that was me :P

Are we going to get into the "Allan 'Fluff'' Freeman" debate again?
I might join F R
hahaha
Still new people??
I put money on Vettel doing well. :D
Still happy
I meant who were you talking about. Eg. who said Kovi was better than Lewis?
Bass Ahhh No
Podcast Title! "I ran out of words"
That was Alex, everyone. I didn't say a thing. :) I didn't start anything! :D
Into the mental gravel trap goes Christine... :)
Just the result I was hoping for - a different winner, finally, just about time.
Ferrari humiliation at home, what can be better? At least their engine won, STR might lose their engine deal if they start challenging the factory guys.
I'm now a converted Hamilton fan/ventilator, some wild driving from him.
But the retirement rate was absolutely unacceptable, one would hope for the repeat of the opening laps of Nurburgring 2007... all in vain. All this time I was hoping for a decent crash and only Fisichella managed to come up with something for me. I'm gutted. Better luck next time.
Will F1 cars have headlights for Singapore? Or maybe they'll put something on top of the drivers' helmets, miners style?
Dom:
Still new people??
And they still keep beating Chrisitne.....
Exactly. Lewis was flying in the first stint and overtaking left, right and center and overall he was much more entertaining and involved in the racing. what did kovi do all race? just drive around in the hope he might catch vettel. not impressive at all.
hahaha
Bass as in fish, not music
shouldn't need it as the lighting is so bright
No one asks me how to pronounce my name...
I think I'm going to go with your pronunciation!
Hello from Jeremy as well!
hahahaha!
OUCH!!! :P
'i can just chat amongst myselves' 'me' do you have multiple personalities?
YES
hello from me while we're all saying hi :P
Well done
Split personalities for Me!

Down wit' da kids????
yeah i reckon even with 4 races left you'd still beat her :P
Sidepodcast boyzzzz
Christine, Clive Chapman said hello btw. :D
LMAO down with the kids :D
The fact that Me hasn't heard of Reggie doesn't mean he doesn't exist!
Title: She's a bit of a skank.
Podcast Title: Yes, I AM down with the kids.
Sidepodcast in da hood, innit blud :P
Vigilize it?
it is not "Can - uck F1"?
Ollie! Great1
Are we allowed to say that on a family show?
Nacht.
Shizzle-pod-cazzizzle
The emphasis is on the uck
OOOOH! that's borderline!
Fern's lovely
Oh, mu apologies.
Now THAT harsh
Plain! rather than Skanky!
*my apolo...*
hahahhaha
hahahahahaha! :D
not
Me would you like to borrow this JCB?
Sorry but I am a Canuck you know. But I think it is called "Can-uck".
:D !
Ahhhhhhh!
If you don't know, what hope do we really have? ;)
It's Can Uck not Can Oook.
sorry jordan, but what is a canuck? :P
Isn't it?
It's all jordan's fault
It's 11:00. We can say what we want :)
Canadian
I'm obviously weird. I've always said it Ca-nook. Is that somehting entirely different?
Title: "Who says booook?"
You should have bought out live commenting sooner.
hahahhaha this is sooo funny!!
oh yeah, fearne listens to sidepodcast all the time... :P
The Can part is really short
Scary spice
ahahaha :D
She used to be their biggest fan.
Yup... Uck as in luck, not Ook as in cook.
hahahah
Darn, only second.
Ca as in can.
uck as in duck.
Oooh, me boook
Ta Journeyer.
Canuk means Canadian for those who don't know.
lol i am gonna win :P
It's kinda annoying I've been saying it wrong. My boss is from Winnipeg. For the last 10 years, I've been saying it wrong.
Lou for the win!
i'm not competative... P
yay! I like Random!
Is Autosport still ahead of us?
Can is really short too.
random random random :P
Blame Canada
yay! :D
I don't know about this tia
I know a song that goes like that. :D
Hahahaaha
Gah! We must win!
I was wise to pick vettel - i always knew he was good in the wet after fuji

I am in bloody second, what do you want....
ng racing and jordan f1 now have orders from the league master :P
F1 now takes up the whole weekend!
First
won;t make a difference as it is the strongest points hauls that count!
It's a bit late for making that post!
First!
It's great
and most of Monday for some of us...
Maybe she can use her powers to jinx Autosport. :P
I am trying to prepare lectures for tomorrow - um might be a discussion forum!!!!!!
I blame Nelson for my poor 2nd place showing...
F1 weekends are actually the best :D
Go Lewis!
Title: "We were never having so much fun either"
Live show should get onto ITV4
I need to get up early tommorow...
Best race all season for me!!!!!
again, thank goodness i found sidepodcast, otherwise i'd never enjoy a race weekend as much as i do now :P
me tooo.... ah well
Challenge TV might do it
(Possibly bizarre question: Jeremy, are you LoudHoward Jeremy, or someone different?)
Do you want L as in Luca or M as in Montezemolo? :)
yay! Champaaaaaagne!
Absolutely!
nice one :D
Ghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmppppppppppppppppppppppppgggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Amen to that! :)
Jeremy from Apple in Australia - J from A in A (fa shizzle)
ooh do we get lou? :P
Any ideas why Kovy looked upset/angry on the podium - he was not stellar but he kept it on the road and got Macca and himself 8 points!
Agreed. Thank you YT!
*runs and hides* i don't like the sound of my own voice!!!
LOU!!!
Go Lou!
yay Lou!

Good set of lungs on her....
Wow, go Lou.
That was meant to be "Me has fingers"
You rule Lou!!!
OMG!
Love the cough!
WOW! What an effort!
Beaten by STR, prob thought he had it sewn up at the start
We have a new winner!
WOW, GO LOU!
yay!! i beat 'me' again :)
How do you know? (oops - family show)
Come back Lou! It's all good!
off topic, moto gp is on bbc2 :P
Come on Sidepodcast Mother In Law
Lou, you can come back now... :)
Not as poultry as my entry!
This isn't gonna be another game where the girls win everything, is it?
lol, christine giving a nelson-style HA-HA! :D
I refude to answer that question on the grounds that I may get the snot beaten out of me by the other half. :D
i'm here.....
I think so!
Where is it this week?
Indy
Indy
indy! :D
hahaha
Ta
Revised Indy isnt it?
I can see me's hand!
Go MUM
and its wet too
Me beaten by his Mum!!!!
Girls have better lungs. :P
So close for MummyMe.
Lou's still winning!
nice one!
wohoo!
'me's mum is cool!
Alex! The girls are beatng us now...
"He had the giggles, it's not fair"
Do you think he was that confident of winning - I suppose it was a good opportunity missed!
that's not fair on alex! :P
Bet he was, Ron would've talked it up
Absolutely! I didn't deserve a second chance! It's like a race. They don't go back and give divers a second go :)
I am a very giggly person!
I am the Le Seb of this...
:D
I might send in another non-counting attempt just to see if i can get near my personal best. as i said, it won't count. :P
Ha about Divers whoops!
maybe he meant dRivers?
Do you think Ron will give he words.....
Shauns was awesome!
via voicemail :P
Never mind, don't cry
You would have won four championships in America...
Nigel... Mansell? :)
The music really gives you a chance to catch up in the morning!
Good point!
i missed all the nice comments you guys made about me. hehe you're very kind. :)
cool that he called from silverstone
That was BEFORE the call... Was trying to be funny. hahaha!
be great if it was mansell :P
McNish won the race and Audi took both championships
It really is Mansell - hear that pause before MacGregor? It's an alias!
I actually think Lewis has a bit of mansell in him in terms of his driving style and the way he fights back when he's down the field.
You can shout the longest, lou. You should be very proud :)
Il Lione...
OH WOW! SO COOL! hahaha! I wish... :)
tis cause i sing at school in the choir and we have to hold on some notes for aggessss!!! :P
It wasn't Mansell. He said I am at Silverstone not WE are at Silverstone
Lou wouldn't have phoned in unless she was sure of winning! A great and diserving winner!
it is only PK.
we can't call lewis that though, he has to drive for ferrari to get that - and i think we all know that ain't happenin' :P
Flashback! That's what the tifosi called Mansell wasn't it - Italian for The Lion.
Oh, come on, Steven Roy! It was meant to confuse you! :P
haha lol i didn't know i was gonna win... i honestly didn't time it.
hahahahaha
Your the Vettel of Sidepodcast
:D
Title: "All that electric going around"
Aeros?
Many people thought PIQ was on inters, possibly due to a reporting error. His times, however, were not consistent with an inter tire.
Title: "The cars are full of holes"
hey, those t-cams will just become lightning rods in the rain won't they?! :s
ahaha :D
Rain reduces static electricity - less Zaps for me
aww thats the nicest thing anyone has said to me in ages :)
I know the chap at Lotus who works with KERS daily wet himself with laughter when I told him about the BMW 'issues'
He went and hugged the KERS equipped Mini they had to prove that it's safe, when assembled by competent engineers. ;)
You are awesome Lou!
Sebastian... Vettel? :) or Bourdais?
bourdais? :P
Agreed re results email
aw i'm pleased i rang in now :) you guys have just made my weekend (as if it couldn't get better already) :D
VERY valid point
Buemi?
Good point!
HEAR HEAR! :)
Lou is Vettel
Alex is Bourdais
We're gonna run out of Toro Rosso drivers, here...
Hahaha
Speed up the investigations. It really shouldn't be that hard to do.
Me is Berger
Run the podium - we usually don't know its fake when we're watching it!
Best not let Me know.
But Jordan said they couldn't prove it until they got home. I guess that shouldn't be true anymore.
Heidfeld made the call himself at Spa
Does Berger do strategy?
We... We?
Hahaha
Christine must be Mateshitz
we need something like american football or rugby where the stewards review the incident live during the race, and they get headsets so we can hear what they actually have to say to it. that way, the penalty gets sorted during the race AND we get to see and hear what the stewards are actually saying about the penalty.
thoughts?
She is the boss
language! family show!
I thoguht me looked familiar...but how did he get to England from Monza so quickly.
Jordan shouldn't have had to prove anything. The rules should have been applied properly in the first place. I was shouting at the screen that day.
Good idea, not sure about listening to them though
Transparency is the word
That is such a brilliant idea why do none of the teams subcontract Lotus to develop a system - they are Brilliant at Research and Development
Are you implying that she needs a shave?
Think how many pandas you could buy
and change his accent?! how on earth...
'me' scroll up ^^
@jeremy: Transparency is a very good word.
Oi!
I said Lou is Vettel and Alex is Bourdais beacuse of their triumps and faliures in the champagne challenge.
OOOOOOH! You'd be VERY VERY VERY lucky to get away with that
You started it! :P
People were comparing folk here with STR drivers
Me/Beger is an master at accents. He got jealous at Lauda and got his own airline too!
you haven't done anything
It started when your letter sender was named Sebastian!
Tost?
Don't ask me. That wasn't me.
Franz Tost.
you have a chart??
no wait, franz tost?
With a Phillips Shaver?
Not broadcasting
It has gone four times so far but always comes back after 30 seconds
LOL at "I wanna be Berger"
That is weird!
hahahahaha!
A fight about wanting to be Berger!
Does that make me "crazy Jean" Alesi?
This is fun :P
It's all this rain
christine breaking out the marriage factor there :P
So who is Giorgio Ascanelli?
You have talked about this... Somewhere...
identi.ca is brilliant!!!!!! :D
It was on Inside Track?
Generation SMS - total vocabulary of 160 characters
ooooh. New Twitter?
Twitter worked?
Someone at Ferrari, I think. Or am out of the ball park there?
can i be him? he was senna's ex-race engineer :D
Ta Scott.
yup... and michael schumacher's ex race engineer from 1996 too.
Except Google... Everyone uses that...
He is now the tech genius at STR
I don't know what your saying now, but i'll give it a try...
oooo sounds very techie... but very cool :D
Toro Rosso technical director
A couple of tens of people!
I think I remember that Me typed in a comment on identi.ca which was on some broadcast...
lol "it ACTUALLY worked?"
oh 'me' you are soooo optimistic :P
Which one, Alex?
Maybe Microsoft will buy it and stuff it up
Has anyone heard the rumours that Roberto and Uncle Mario are not very HAPPY little bunnies - apparently so the rumour goes Roberto wanted to have number one status following Canada. The team have rather helped Nick with his qualifying ISSUES and Mario rather pointedly said they did the same last year when Roberto was struggling and Nick was earning the points. Not sure Roberto and Fernando would be such a good combination remembering Macca's experience with two #1 drivers. If Alonso joins BMW Sauber might be better to keep the more peaceful Nick!
Christine always seems very pleased when Me spells something ritght!
HAHA! "GET IN THERE!" :D
I'll check it out then
Christine B in the house, yo
I think it was Inside Track them mentioned it before!
ritght ?
Is Me like that every time he gets something right.

I was on a 256k connection and missed most of parade lap.
Longer show!!!!

lol
LONG-ER! LONG-ER! LONG-ER! :D
No music
LeMans - 24/7
Stay live 24/7. You are heading that way anyway
I think it would be faster if you guys called us rather than us calling you?
if your going longer wil you start earlier??
Long-er! :) But bandwidth at that time sucks, though.
The music is great
Longer show. 90 minutes?
James Allen wouldn't look cute twirling his hair
Blimey. This is a long one!
i hardly think they're gonna want to get up at 2am just to check in the comments.
Okay. everyone start ending your comments with the words “GET IN THERE!”

Title: You people ROCK THE HOUSE!
And it was my sugestion! :)
I nominate "Stupid Bridgestone, with your stupid names"
“He had the giggles, it’s not fair”
erm, people might think that means something completely different.

You should be happy you have 3 secretaries at your beck and call! Hahaha!
“As wet as an otter’s pocket” OR

Stopped broadcasting again
Are you company employee?
"Shizzle-pod-cazzizzle"
yeah 'national anthum of formula 1' is good
I meant I suggest the "National Anthem of F1". Christine said it! :)
Or a Lotus owner?
@Steven Roy - perfect here in Oz - I think it's you
Shame!
Great weekend
GET IN THERE
Oh dear, Scott.
I guess it is 11:00...
erm, how can anyone say hi to colin chapman? he'd kind of been dead for 26 years. unless they have his grave there.
it's 11:40.... wow.... it's flown by.
11:45
Glad I'm on late shift tomorrow
That was mean they don't break down like MGs - I know I own one!
no, title should be:
GET IN THERE! :D
Good ending :)
No worries
How do I set my TiVo for SidePodcast?
Stupid Bridgestone, with your stupid names. I like that one...
I meant it as a genuine question. I promise, no meaness from me. :)
aah right, i just thought so since you kind of said colin.
I'm in trouble now!
“They’d take a lot of people before James Allen”
Nope. Used to work for a company that did a LOT of work with Lotus
Not any more.... :(
Christine, Don't suppose you got a very garbled voicemail from me this afternoon?
If not, I may have rung someone completely at random....
I do have a WMA *it's all it records in - sorry* but I need to check it out.
I have ~9gb of photos too. :D
Don't worry Jeremy they are just live 24/7 now!
hey, we love you guys. we're more than happy to stick around, right guys? :)
Me too - and I'm working from home!
A panda
wow we have made over 1,000 comments!!!
I'm not allowed to swear. Neither here nor there.
Best not to really!
totally :)
Ah! That one! Good call... :)
do you reckon our next target should be to break 2000 comments? :P
No way!
Scott, we need your Celebrations song!
ME should count all comments for all posts for this weekend it is way higher than any other!
Most Talkative
Scott Woodwiss (1627)
Alex Andronov (1520)
lou (1327)
Steven Roy (1091)
Alianora La Canta (678)
Great show
Whoops.
hahaha!
Good show guys. :)
When I was 16 I bought a beautiful Lotus Elan Sprint, that was a wreck that I rebuilt over 7 years.
I then sold it. :(
Bye guys!
Absoltuely awesome! Thanks guys... Bed time!
This is like the naughty list at school... :P
No worries, Sidepodcast. Cheers!
awesome weekend guys. I love spending a weekend with everyone :D
Thank you Christine and Me for your efforts!
Bye Dom
hey this race weekend couldn't have been any better with you guys, thanks for a fantastic weekend :)
Byeee!!!
Thanks to Berger and Mateshitz
Thanks 'Community' for keeping it real... :-d
I can't believe how long that was.
Every minute worth watching too :)
Cheers from a very WET Cape Town
g'nyt everyone! :D or good morning, from where i'm at. :)
Seriously, it should be televised
night night :P
I'm still gonna be here though :P Now i can watch the rest of the motogp to pass the time :)
I think Christine should call her first two pandas B&M
I'm not off just yet.
Although I should be...
oh, motogp race got red flagged?
As in... bacon and mushroom? Hahaha!
here here.
Nice :D
We need podcast time guesses
57 mins
I reckon 48 minutes
53 mins!
i am going to guess 51 minutes
or do what i did with my ducks and name them after f1 drivers
Yep. Took a while for the stewards to make a decision though. But the Dorma CEO asked Rossi and Stoner DIRECTLY. Wow, straight up, that.
wow, the weather over at indy was awful! they had to red flag it 7 laps from the end because the conditions were just too much.
55 minutes for me. :)
not to mention the 250s were cancelled.
Live shows are great fun here
just thinking about it, we really are a nice, tightly knit community here at sidepodcast.:)
ok i'm going with 52 mins.... i bet i'll be wrong today.
Agreed.
Sorry for being slow, is the race at Indy?
And funny too, ha ha, not odd
looking at that revised indy track layout though - i bet you anything if they had that layout in 2005 for the F1 race, everyone would still have raced.
yup, and they used the road course but ran it in the opposite direction with a chicane added inside "Turn 1"
true, but the current layout sucks. the banking was the best bit of the track, and it got lopped off.
sidepodcast is awesome!! :D I would say it would be great for us all to meet up... but i think it might be slightly impossible. but yeah Scott you're right, i love our little community :)
Anyone said 49 mins? If not I'll take it.
Should arrange post season drinks somewhere
are you talking about bikes?? i know nothing about bikes... they don't have 4 wheels, therefore it confuses me :P
Was the Moto good, what ran of it?
Moto GP is at Indy
Funny how all the riders talk to Suzy Perry on the grid
don't think anyone has said 49 mins...
Its great! Glad I found Sidepodcast. Glad I found it so early on so I could watch them get so much better in such a short space of time.
that was exactly my point about moving to a different venue if f1 was to go back to america. i still say Road America should host. awesome circuit.
Suzy Perry.... she does the gagdet show?
Wonder why? Girl in leathers
As good a reason as any. ;)
i bet if you'd said to christine and Me back when they started in late 2006 that they'd be this popular 2 years later they'd never have believed you. :P
i'm gonna go shorter, say 39mins? not sure how much we said was usable but the voicemails were really good and should up the minute count.
have i said thank you to everybody yet? if not thank you everybody :)
aye, that's good for me :P
Don't forget the small thingummy
And thanks to you both
In fact, all
if you get it right you will be mysitic 'me' hehehe
If any women want to wear leather around me, it's not a problem.
Unless they're NOT dressed as Nazi's and carrying whips...
Massive thanks to you two too!!
cos Max has that one sewn up
HAHA! Agreed ;)
Allegedly, or not
can honestly say our target was 100 regular listeners. anything over that is a bonus in our book.
but we're not any more popular here than anyone else. in my book and the best stuff is always in the comments anyway.
right back at ya guys! you guys never fail to deliver the best :)
What's the average user count over the weekend? Individuals
i think we can safely say you've achieved that and surpassed it ;)
So, singapore - possibly in the rain
Rain + floodlights = unable to see a damn thing.
Could be interesting.
has there ever been a season with so much rain?
1,100 comments now.
night racing AND rain - only le mans drivers have experience in that kind of racing dont they?
Poor Massa ;)
They need to get Franck back :)
absolutely! :D
Break out the ice cream, he'll come then
since this morning we have made about 3, 156 comments.... (i think... my maths is not brilliant)
It's the 800th Grand Prix. Must not dissapoint.
It sure has been wet. Good timing with the banning of traction control.
There are quite a few sportscar races and touring car races that run all night. There is even a 24 hour race for 2 CVs. All those vehicles have two thing in common headlights and no massive lighting rigs
Wow
yeah! :) there is a spare seat at Toro Rosso he could have :P
Did you not just get an A level for maths?
and no massive accidents either.
nope twas GCSE :P i am not doing maths for A Level... i think it would kill me....
I'm going for 50 minutes. I had to scroll a long way with my finger on my iPhone.
I would like to thank the sidepodcast comunity too. A great group of people who really know their stuff but also love having a great time!
Night all :)
And reduced aero next year with slicks, just a touch of rain'll do it
Night Alex
night alex :)
Good night Alex
It's quite tough, I did pure & applied for a year
Oh, quick question: What's the difference in significance between the maroon and teal "live" triangles?
the colour and the words? was that a trick question?
night alex.
Is it like the "on air" signs?
right i'm off since i need a good night's sleep after practically being up all night last night. i shall see you guys around here tomorrow :) night night
Maroon is for videos.
cheers scot and ta for the call.
Don't be mean. I think the point is that one is live streaming - as in "has video" - and the other is simply commenting for GP sessions.
No, I just don't bother reading anymore - it wastes too much time. ;) (Whoops.)
Night Scott
:) any time
byeee :)
night Scott
So I guess the Parade Lap will be tough for Japan & China
i should really go to bed too... but i have to finish of my ict presentation of the inputs and outputs for an ECU... so i will be around for a bit i think....
I'm in and out doing bits and bobs
See, that's what I thought at first (until it became obvious that wasn't it) - hence my confusion and not bothering to read.
hehe.
we'll follow anyone's advice. if you tell us it's worth doing and enough people are interested we'll be up.
planning on live commenting all race session too.
speaking of the Japanese gp will i be able to get a shout out cause it will be my 17th birthday :)
ahh righto. we might need to think about that. that's a damn good point. hmm.
If the season stays close I'll be getting up for the 2 early ones
course. we're gonna need reminding tho :)
I'll be up around. I usually don't bother sleeping.
well we got up for Ausi and the beginging of the season... this isn't really any different :)
Sleep's for wimps, no wait - that was lunch
On-air and off-air made sense in my mind. But not sure it's really necessary. Unless someone randomly turns up, knows what it all means, sees you're on-air and joins in.
That won't be a problem :) i'm gonna be pretty excited :) 17 means i can learn to drive!! :P
That's a lot of smileys! WooT
yeah i might be over doing it with the smileys... what can i say i'm usually a smiley person :)
He he
That deserves a :)
hehe *must resist the temptation to put a write a smiley next*
:)
damn it!
:)
Oh no! It's contagious.
13 days, 12 hours, 34 mins to Singapore
haha i am apprehensive about building singapore up to be this amazing race... just look at Valencia... but on the other hand.. it's gonna be amazing :)!!!
just out of interest did i spell apprehensive right?? cause thats one heck of a long word for a deslexic to spell at 12:30am...
Don't want to jinx it, but I can't see Singapore going the same way as Valencia. Has all the recipies to be a superb meeting.
Looks right to me
Apprehensive looks fine to me.
Yup, thats right.
wohoo!! :D
I think it's one helluva of a word to spell for anyone at 12:30. I messed up bureaucracy earlier.
That's a tough one though
But at 12:30, a lot of things are, to be fair
I impress myself with my ability to type whilst half asleep. Maybe it's proof i spend I little too much time typing...
Which is why I love the spell-checker in Firefox. When it chooses to be Englilsh rather than American, that is. (No offence to Americans.)
That deserves a :D
What's that add-on?
there is a spell checker on firefox?!?! I'm slowly coming round to thinking that firefox might be better than IE... still not convinced though
Firefox is a lot better
Valentino Rossi is awesome
You're right. Maybe I'm not that good after all... :)
I prefer it over Safari too
Spell-checker? I could do with one of them...
i found out at the beginning of the season while live commenting for aus that i can't do that. ;)
To be honest, my blender is better at web browsing than IE6. 7 is much better, but annoying for me. 8 looks okay though. Firefox can be a bit slow at times, especially if you bolt on lots of extras.
safari is the apple browser right??
Yup
Yep, it comes with OS X. It is like what IE is to Windows.
I'm stuck between the two at the moment. Safari seems to work better, but slows down badly after a few hours.
IE was a living nightmare for me
Prefer Firefox's customisation
ah cool. I am a PC girl so i know nothing about Macs... but i'ma learnin :)
Anyone try Camino (if you're on a Mac). Same engine-thingy as Safari I think, but damn fast. Although text-rendering isn't as nice as Safari's.
ha!
it's available for windows too:
http://www.apple.com/safari/
Can run windows on a Mac too, side by side
for the smiley people, a useful resource:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Smilies
don't be surprised if we one day make the animated ones less animated though :)
Macs are so flexible.
No such luck. I got Safari with the new iTunes a few weeks back.
Is there a Panda smiley?
Safari wasn't that great when I tried it on a pc
Panda Smilies: http://pandark...anda-smilies-92455122
there are other smileys?!
You're joking! :D
Having a look now
He He
Does  really count as a smiley?
Or
Aren't they more like emoticons, or something? (Can you tell I'm not down with the kids?)
We need a smiley that suggests under pressure
and how are these :!: :?: smileys?.... its easier to just type ? or !
 Vettel
 Bourdais
:???: ?
how about 8) ... it kinda goes with the song....
:D
i think this is Bourdais -
poor Bourdais
 stressed?
Maybe on windows live messenger, not Wordpress!
 Kimi
yeah. there's a reason why we don't use 'em. but at least you know they're there.
me no fan of the animation though.
The Moto GP race has just finished on BBC 2 so time for me to go.
C ya all later
cheers steven.
Ciao Stephen
 Christine, when she spots Franck
see ya Steven.
Blimey, it's ten to one. Better be shooting off.
Todays been great fun, guys. :) Thanks to everyone! Speak again tommorow.
Not sure I can embed an image in the comments, but I'd recommend:
Speak to you later Dom!
^^Nope, I can't.^^
http://prodriv...da-Under-Pressure.png
Cheers Dom
lol
Panda under pressure = ace
wow! we gotta make that happen. thanks you.
Next weeks title contender: Panda under pressure
Hey! I broke into the top commentors! How'd that happen? :D Happy now :)
Bye again!
imagevenue is great for embedding links if drop.io can't
ok i'm off to bed... kinda sad to see this weekend end, it's been soo much fun. One last thank you from me to everyone :)
Speak to you all later!! x
cheers lou :)
night lou
Right then, I need to find fantasy racers stuff
http://www.sid...ts-only-make-believe/
pretty much the only link you need bassano.
Thanks me
I'd best be off then. Great day, this live thing's coming on in leaps and bounds
many thanks bassano.
Everyone off the sidewalks now! I here she's learning at DC 's driving school!.
I just finally got back to town after a Bachelor party / wedding in Vegas. I got to see the race but didn't bother bring my computer.
WHAT A WIN BY VETTEL
I know everyone has sang his praises till their blue in the face by now but wow. Wow.
Anyhow, can't wait for Singapore.
Hey guys, a bit too late but... sorry for my name giving you such a hard time pronouncing it :-)
Tarya is short for Nectarya. It's Greek and the -ya is pronounced -ia as in Silvia. I guess it would be better if I spelled it Taria but that doesn't look quite as good as Tarya now does it?
Ah, apologies. I think we may have said it wrong. Promise to get it right next time :)
LOUD NOISES! :D
One last quote from Vettel which reminds me of how different his reactions are to Lewis.
After the race many were saying Vettel was the new Schumacher he said, in the Guardian, "To compare me with Michael Schumacher is just a bit ridiculous. I know him very well and he's a very nice guy who is very down-to-earth. It will be difficult in normal conditions for us to repeat this achievement, so I will not be going to Singapore thinking that I am a superstar or expecting to win again, because that's just not going to happen".
http://www.tak...onNews.asp?nid=168438
So, it be goin' down to a good ol' fashioned shootout :D
Grist to the Vettel moving on before the end of the season rumour?
Not really, but what I DO notice is that Bruno Senna's name isn't even mentioned, while Sebastian Buemi is, as he's Sato's main challenger.
Which probably means one of three things:
1. Bourdais is on his way out at season's end, with Senna replacing him.
2. Senna has opted to stay on for 1 more year in GP2.
3. Senna is already going through the specifics of a contract for a 2009 test seat - possibly with McLaren or BMW.
I've heard the Williams rumours, but given how well Glock and Trulli are doing, I don't see Nakajima getting called up just yet.
i don't really follow gp2, but can someone explain in very simple terms, how man who just got beaten the title by giorgio pantano is f1 material?
another year in gp2 wouldn't hurt him would it?
Well, Pantano's been trying for God knows how long... he's not THAT bad a driver, you know. He was bound to get it right sooner or later, and he did. You don't become a GP2 champ and a Formula 3000 champ if you're no good.
i see. this is what i know of pantano:
- didn't set the world alight in f1
- ian phillips said on friday he had to sack him from jordan for being useless (although not in so many words)
- no-one in f1 seems interested, despite his title
i'd argue that he's not that good a driver either. but like i said i don't follow gp2.
here's another angle on senna. what if he enters too soon and messes it up? also, given that f1 hardly ever tests these days, could he not do that and another gp2 season?
Weren't the same things being asked about Lewis Hamilton? Like, "What if he enters too soon and messes it up?" As it turned out, he didn't - he did very well, as a matter of fact.
And given that F1 is entering a new era of regulations come 2009, Senna would have less of a learning curve than if he entered in 2010, for example. If Senna's good enough in 2010, he's probably good enough for 2009.
It looks to me that the further up the racing ladder Bruno Senna has gone the more convincing he has looked. There is always a big risk that he does another season of GP2 and for whatever reason doesn't get as good results he will drop completely off the radar. Allan McNish before his second season of F3000 was such a hot favourite for the title it was ridiculous.
I never heard anyone say anything other than the guy was world champion material. At the time F3000 was a multi-chassis formula and he drove for the French DAMS team with full Marlboro sponsorship and were effectively the works Lola team. That year Lola built a dog. It was garbage. Honda bad. It was truly awful and he struggled badly through no fault of his own.
He got no offers from F1 and almost disappeared out of racing completely. His career was going nowhere until he was offered a drive in the Porsche championship guest car. All sorts of well known names had driven it and none of them could live with the championship regulars. McNish did what he has always done and impressed massively. On the back of that he got a works Porsche sportscar drive and is now regarded as the best sportscar driver in the world. That extra season of F3000 killed his serious F1 career. Someone who was chosen ahead of his then team mate Mika Hakkinen for the Marlboro F3 drive at the age of 19 never raced an F1 car until he was 32.
Senna needs to go to F1 next year (even as a test driver) or do something else entirely.
just thinking about it and drawing from my historical knowledge, this season is I think the first time since 1995 where we've had at least 3 new winners in the season:
2008 - Kubica (Canada), Kovalainen (Hungary), Vettel (Italy)
1995 - Alesi (Canada), Herbert (Britain), Coulthard (Portugal)
Scott any ideas on 4 new winners? Maybe Heidfeld will do it?
I wackily suggested Glock would be the 100th winner. How close I was.
hmmm...to be honest, i dunno if he will.
Personally I think it will be either Glock or Webber. MW has been long overdue a win.
Sorry yeah. I meant do you know how far back it was that there were 4 new winners in a season?
There are a fair few chances for it in the last 4 races.
Afternoon guys :)
Watching him make the progress he has made so quickly, I couldn't say he's not ready for F1. Seems another season in GP2 would be a waste of time. All hangs on whether the teams agree with me though...
Good point.
Completely agree. He's won GP2 and he deserves it but he spent plenty of time trying. He's had his time racing in F1. Reserve driver not out of the question though?
you guys do a fine job of selling an argument... i'm out!
It seems to me that the only drives avalible for next year (other than at Toro Rosso) are the Renault seats. Piquet still isn't entirly safe and the only man who another team would let in at this point is Alonso, who's made it perfectly clear he's thinking of moving.
Never rule out a shock though...
hmm, no idea. i wouldn't say my knowledge can stretch to that. my knowledge only really goes from the turbo era to now :P
The other thing to consider is that Lucas diGrassi who is getting a great write up for nearly beating Senna despite missing the first few races spent the winter developing the car. It was designed around him.
So Senna was up against the guy the car was built around and another with way more experience than anyone was ever supposed to have in that category. So it is reasonable to say he had a much steeper learning curve at the start of the season yet with a little luck could still have come out on top.
If I was Berger I would alread have signed him up. Mateschitz may want a Red Bull driver but what is going to get most publicity for his unnamed energy drink, A Swiss driver no-one has ever heard of or someone with probably the most famous name in the motor racing world? Equally if Berger is after money from Japan no-one was ever more popular there than Ayrton Senna and no-one had a closer association with Honda. I am sure Japanese sponsors would be queuing up to back him. Would Santander want to lose him or would they extend their F1 sponsorship to throw a few million STR's way?
That would be great.
Mark hugely deserves a win, but I cant see it happening, not just this season, but at all at Red Bull. My favourite for the next new winner in Nick, given his improved pace.
How about 2003? Raikkonen (Malaysia), Fisichella (Brazil), Alonso (Hungary).
VERY tricky question. If I find out the answer to this one, I'll let you know. :)
Erm, if anything I think he's much more likely to be at Renault since he is one of their development drivers. Actually, here's a thought - if Alonso leaves for BMW or Honda and Piquet gets the boot, who would be the two guys to replace them? My guess - Grosjean and di Grassi.
Scott, I think he meant that if Grosjean is getting rave reviews, so should Senna because he's winning races and contending for the title in a car designed around someone else.
sorry, i didn't read the post fully. i meant di Grassi will be at Renault. But I agree, after going up against drivers who either have more experience in the car or overall, the boy done good.
I don't see Carlos Ghosn signing off on diGrassi / Grosjean as a partnership. diGrassi is certainly worth a shot. Grosjean needs another season to see if he is plain reckless or he was just trying too hard. For Ghson to sign off the budge Renault will need on experienced highly thought of driver.
All those new regs and two brand new drivers could end up with Renault challenging Honda.
Hmm, OK now this has got me thinking - let's assess the current 2009 driver lineups and try and kind of fill in the gaps. Drivers in italics are those who have been linked with the said team.
Ferrari
Kimi Raikkonen - confirmed
Felipe Massa - confirmed
McLaren
Lewis Hamilton - confirmed
Heikki Kovalainen - confirmed
BMW
Robert Kubica - unconfirmed, though likely
Nick Heidfeld - unconfirmed, looking likely to be replaced
Fernando Alonso - rumoured, looks ever increasingly likely to happen
Renault
Fernando Alonso - unconfirmed, might leave
Nelson Piquet - unconfirmed, looks like being replaced
Lucas di Grassi - development driver, might just get a shot.
Romain Grosjean - 3rd driver, would be a sensible and obvious choice
Red Bull
Mark Webber - confirmed
Sebastien Vettel - confirmed
Toyota
Jarno Trulli - confirmed
Timo Glock - unconfirmed, should stay on for another year
Williams
Nico Rosberg - unconfirmed, very likely to stay
Kazuki Nakajima - unconfirmed, might just get the boot
Nico Hulkenberg - 3rd driver, could get his chance
Toro Rosso
Sebastien Bourdais - unconfirmed, unsure at the moment
Bruno Senna - has been linked, possibility
Takuma Sato - has been linked, will test with the team
Sebastien Buemi - same as above
Vitantonio Liuzzi - has tested with the team, but unlikely
Honda
Jenson Button - unconfirmed, looks likely to be retained
Rubens Barrichello - unconfirmed, might just leave
Fernando Alonso - been linked, but unsure at the moment
Luca Fillipi - development driver, is an option
Mike Conway - same as above
Anthony Davidson - past experience, is a possibility
Force India
Giancarlo Fisichella - unconfirmed, but almost resigned for 09
Adrian Sutil - unconfirmed, could just get replaced
Vitantonio Liuzzi - 3rd driver, could step in
If I've missed anyone, then please feel free to add :)
I thought Glock was confirmed? And Rosberg? Or maybe they're just so darn likely to get a contract that it is just motions now, but still not official official.
yeah i did too... butas you said it might not have been officially confirmed yet..
yeah i thought that too, but since nothing's been annouced i just put that
Any chance that this weekend's win means somebody buys Vettel out of his contract?
I could see BMW having him back better than Alonso fitting in to be honest.
well Mario was quick to praise him yesterday on ITV, so... ;)
Re: Scott
I think a lot of the musical chairs depend on Alonso. If he picks BMW. Heidfeld moves to Renault. Honda makes the decision to keep both drivers.
If he picks Honda, Heidfeld will keep his seat at BMW. Barachello gets the boot at Honda and possibly moves to retirement or test drive. Renault pick one of Di Grassi or Grosjean.
If he stays at Renault. Then it might be a boring off season.
As for the other seats, I think we might see 4-5 rookies on the grid next year. Also, why does Sato keeps on getting chances? He had his chance in Formula One with mixed results. Especially with as many talented young drivers chomping at the bit and ones who have never recieved a proper chance (like Ant and Franck) why do they keep on picking the guy up? I don't understand that at all.
of course - I forgot Franck! do you think maybe he's got more of a chance with Honda, seeing as he races for Acura, their American brand, in ALMS?
If not, then I'd like to see him back at Renault. Aww, imagine Alonso and Franck together! Now THAT would be a partnership.
1982.
- Elio de Angelis won in Austria.
- Michele Alboreto won at Las Vegas in America.
- Patrick Tambay won in Germany.
- Keke Rosberg won in Switzerland (although because the Swiss banned motor sport, the Swiss race was held at Dijon in France).
All first time winners and the most recent time a season has seen four new winners.
Brownie points please... :P
Awesome Ollie!
I would actually post you a brownie let alone points (but I worry it might get squished!)
mmm, brownies... :P
Incidentally, Keke Rosberg won the '82 title with only that one initial win under his belt. He beat Didier Pironi by five points.
Pironi won two races that year, as did John Watson, Alain Prost, Niki Lauda and René Arnoux. All in all, 1982 saw 11 different winners from 16 races.
Also, the very first year of the championship in 1950 only had three (obviously) first-time winners. Farina and Fangio both won three times, and Parson's won the Indy 500 which was a part of the championship, but Farina and Fangio didn't take part.
There were a lot of big accidents in 1982 as well. I didn't remember that Pironi was so close at the end of the year but then I am very biased against him.
He hit the back of Prost's car at Hockenheim o on of the long straights and totall trashed his legs. Before that Paletti died after he hit Pironi's car which stalled on the grid in Canada. And of course Gilles died at Zolder.
That season was far worse than 1994 despite all the hype.
I think he was the fish that got away from BMW. I get the feeling that Red Bull are going to be spending a lot of the profits of a said energy drink to keep that man happy and in the fold.
Honestly, I don't see the Alonso to BMW thing. Sure Heidfeld has been out raced by his teammate for the majority of the season but the man has been consistently in the points and beating people in better machinery like Hekki. So what happens next year if they bring in Alonso and he consistantly out races Kubica? Under the same rubric they are using for Heidfeld, would Kubica's drive be in jeopardy? I really think it would be unwise to spend BMW limited resources on a high-salary, high-demand person like Alonso. Besides,
Sorry if I seem bias, but I like Heidfeld and I think BMW should be grateful for all the loyalty and effort he had made to get that team where they are.
just off topic for a second - should we start a picture caption contest?. i've entered this week's one at GTPlanet. the pic is this:
http://images.....net/large/109708.jpg
and my entry was: "Mark and Heikki try to look otherwise occupied as Vettel shows off his Borat impression." :P
Agreed. Time to give Heidfeld a break!
think ollie has that one sewn up scott:
http://blogf1....08/caption-contest-9/
and a fab job his does too.
alonso would look good in green. and brawn needs a "schumi" character.
Not a caption but Heikki looks like he's dancing in that photo. And that's the most pleased I've seen Webber look in a while.
Absolutely. I think that's a partnership I can really see working.
I don't know why, but I'd quite like to see Mark Webber at BMW. I'll doubt it will happen, but still...
I didn't realise Heikki managed a smile after the race. On the podium he looked like someone who had lost a tenner and found a fiver.
check out my entry to the lastest blogf1 caption contest with the 3 red bull/toro rosso drivers :D
Hehe :)
I'm guessing that was after qualifying seeing as Webber was there.
What a completely random caption photo to choose? I had to look twice at the URL because the date was all... old. :)
not random at all. in your comment feed, that was the most recent entry to a caption contest.
why laurence chose to add a comment to that post on saturday is another matter entirely :)
this link would've made more sense though:
http://blogf1.co.uk/tag/caption-contest/
If Lou's in here, I've just seen your display message on MSN - you're going to see Michael McIntyre?! I'm so jealous! :D
Mind you, I shouldn't be too jealous - I'm going to see Lee Evans in November ;)
Also, on the subject of night racing and the upcoming visit to Singapore for F1, I can at least say I've been to A night race. I was at the inaugural BTCC night race at Snetterton in 1999. That's an event I'll never forget, even though I was just 8 or 9 at the time :P
My error. There were five in 1982. Patrese as well.
Laurence commented on four old CC's in quick succession. I guess he found one through Google or similar, liked them and went from there. Sometimes random stuff happens that I try to ignore. Otherwise my head feels starts to hurt.
:D
sorry if i made matters worse.
ah yes, mad Monaco that year - "the race that no-one wanted to win" :P
Well Ollie let me know... Although I now am subscribed to your site.
And you forgot to add that Pironi had an accident which shattered both of his legs with five races to go in the season.
if you're quick (faster than bernie at least), here's the last lap we didn't see from alonso in spa:
http://axisofo...ings-towards-bmw.html
if only he'd done that a lap earlier.
@Alex: http://blogf1....-five-huh-no-six-yet/
Cool Ollie. Thanks!
Blinding lap.
is anyone watching Fifth Gear right now with Plato and James Toseland in the Aston? LMAO! :D
Great find Me!
If there was an open-mouth or shocked smilie, I'd post about 10 of them right now.
Wow. Just.........wow.
if there was an open-mouthed or shocked smilie, then i'd post about 10 of them right now. Until then all I can say about that lap is: wow. just.........wow.
yep i am indeed :D am verrryyy excited!! :D wow you're going to see Lee Evans... nice. :)
lee evans = absolute legend :P
wow. That last corner is :o
wow, thanks for finding that 'me'
not to rush you guys in any way, just wanted to ask when we can expect the podcast? :)
oh and nice one dom for pointing out the :o smilie :D
I'm guessing you weren't here for the smiley conversation last night.
 http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Smilies
:D
 cool
What have you unleashed Me with these smilies?
And it causes the recent comments thing to go a bit weird too!
That was a fabulous last lap by Alonso.
Button-esque ;)
yeah, sorry. the info has been there for a while. personally i find the default wordpress smilies to be very harsh and a little too large. the plan soon is to replace them with similar, but more subtle ones.
sorry if it's hurting your eyes. personally happy, sad and wink is all i normally need.
because it says "mrgreen" on there?
Yeah it's not like it's the worst bug in the world or anything! ;)
I agree. Wink, Smile and frown are enough for me :)
For the podium-statisticians among you, I'm answering "me's" question (three first-time winners that season on the same podium) on BF1 right now - most recent post, updating it every 30 mins or so.
am just reading it. what a great way to write a post.
inside the mind of ollie.
:D
wow. He really is Mystic :)
lol. Just ignore the typos for now if you spot any - just realised WordPress auto-saves the post every now and then, so if a sentence stops short, don't worry abou...
Now on F1, erm, when can we expect the podcast?
You'll probably say tomorrow but I felt like using that smilie but didn't want to waste a whole post.
:) lol
Thanks. I sometimes write my race write-ups live, paragraph at a time. The reason is silly and geeky, but as of yet, no one has come forward to say they've noticed.
As the post is already long enough, I've called it a day, but have split the idea into a series and will pick it up again tomorrow and then on Wednesday, unless other things get in the way, that is.
Oh and credit to Dom for just leaving a great comment on the site: "Alonso wasn't even on the podium, he was in an ambulance". Well put good sir.
Aaaand having checked my call hsitory on my mobile phone - it appears that I managed to leave a 5 minute voicemail with someone completely random.
Whoops!
haha.
scott asked earlier. i haven't answered because i didn't know. i do now, and it'll be tomorrow evening. weekend may have taken it out of us, but normal service will resume shortly.
oh dear!
you didn't hear christine speaking then?
Ummmm. No. :D
So someone's got a mesage from me prattling on at random for several minutes. ;)
Oh well.
Our local websites are reporting that the other F1 drivers are slamming Lewis' driving at Monza - especially Fernando and Timo.
Source: http://www.whe...lam_Hamiltons_driving
This followed the local press' attack on Lewis just before Monza.
http://www.whe...l_as_rivals_speak_out
As you will note while SA Motoring Editors are rather anti-Hamilton (make that very) the SA public is very divided into two camps.
Interesting that http://www.planetf1.com and http://www.autosport.com/ have not reported the latest attack on Hamilton by other F1 drivers. So I suppose it has not received coverage elsewhere.
On the http://www.formula1.com there is also no mention of these, but in the article about "Peers full of praise for Vettel and Toro Rosso" they have conveniently missed that both Ron and Lewis did actually congratulate Vettel and Toro Rosso (OK Lewis did manage to swing it back to himself but still there is some recognition).
Oh if no one has realised Timo is fairly aggressive and I sure he will return the favour to Lewis if the opportunity comes!
Okay. This was when I was still begining home the gal from the dive site. Do I really want to know what this is all about?
Your website obviously favours our friend Lewis - I put some quotes that local (SA) motoring websites are reporting about other F1 drivers slamming Lewis for his driving at MONZA - yes as well as at SPA- but its in moderation. I think it is really funny the moderation not the attack on Lewis. Hopefully this comment does get posted as it has no links. The interesting thing is these issues are not reported on in the regular websites.
just got there, sorry rich.
I received it, and I agree with it, to a degree. [Damn] good racing, but at times, Hamilton was a little too pushy. But he played by the (new) rules, so all is fair in love and war, I guess. If Timo ever gets the opportunity again though, and gets a penalty, I'll be emailing the FIA.
Generally speaking, these quotes have received little interest in the UK. Admittedly, the quotes broke quite late in the UK, so maybe Autosport will cover it tomorrow (16th). But in all honesty, the story should've been broken as the race was happening.
Uh ohhh. Glock mad. Dare I not repeat the consequences when the English and Germans get into a scuffle.
Thanks - Hamilton was pushy at Monza but I am glad there were no penalties but he should receive the same treatment as he delivers so we could have some exciting racing in the future. He certainly is not popular among his peers.
Didn't M Brundle defend him heavily during the broadcast - saying that he cant have seen him in his mirrors?
Scott: In answer to your question, Canucks are unarmed Americans with Healthcare....
Canooks are the spaces between the caranies, I think.
But Canooks should not be mentioned on a family show...
I think if Kimi was OK defending his line at SPA then Lewis was OK defending Webber at Monza. However, you cannot say Kimi was wrong at SPA and Lewis was OK at Monza nor the reverse situation. That's my feelings.
How? come on Steven,
In your Sidepodcast-Cosworth racing car, the Canooks are between your feet pedels and the bottom of the cockpit floor.
The Canuck is your Race Engineer.
How hard is that to figure out?
You should have a few seconds of me gabbling as a voicemail now. ;)
Darn there goes my plans to beat Christine using Vettel, both Beemers and both Super Aguri drivers.... :(
“Canada is like a loft apartment over a really great party!” - Robin Williams
As in, that's where all the 'ows yer father is happening. ;) If so, Canada beckons...
I knew Stephen Harper wanted to emulate American-style conservativism but I didn't realize that ment annexing you guys. Any case, welcome to the greatest country on earth. You will be given a gun (a handgun with a shotgun or rifle of your choice), a bible, a fat suit, a trailer to live in and a child out of wedlock after your take the citizens oath. Just leave the debts on your side of the boarder, god knows we have enough ourselves.
Don't worry, it was in reference to James Allen saying (many times) that STR had Minardi D.N.A. and how it was upsetting the viewers (and us all here)
When talk got to Force India reaching Qualy 2
I couldn't resist chipping in with Jordan (f1) D.N.A. to wind up Jon who was turning into Hulk
Phew! That was long and winding
Allen: LOOK AT VETTEL AND HIS BMW D.N.A. RUN AROUND IN THAT AMAZING TORO ROSSO WITH THE MINARDI D.N.A. IT PASSE'S THE RENAULT OF ALONSO THAT HAS THE D.N.A. OF BOTH MINARDI AND BENNATON. OH WAIT, HERE COMES THE RED BULL OF MARK WEBBER AND HIS D.N.A. OF WILLIAMS, JAGUAR, AND STEWART. OH NO; FISCH JUST SPUN OUT IN HIS D.N.A. OF JORDAN, MIDLAND F1, AND SPYKER. MEANWHILE LEWIS HAMILTON WITH HIS D.N.A. OF THE GODS RACES TO A WWIIIINNNNN!!!!!! NO WAIT. THAT IS VETTEL. THERE BETTER BE AN INVESTIGATION. THERE IS NO WAY THAT LEWIS CAN LOSE IN THE WET. THE DRIVE WAS TOO SENNA-ESQ FOR HIM TO LOSE. WOULDN'T YOU AGREE MARTIN?
Brundle: Oh what. Oh sorry, I was filling out my resume.
You know I saw a keychain that counted down the days, minutes, and seconds left in the G.W. Bush presidency. Can we get them to make the same thing for James Allen and ITV?
Ahem, and Toleman.
I agree that I am in the greatest country on earth, but why are you wishing me entry into the United States, especially under those terms?
Funny LeSeb caption contest from last week for Christine if not already seen/posted

Apparently Brazil seems to be full of Hamilton fans. I have been reading some stuff in Clive's blog from a couple of Brazilians who think Lewis is the new Senna. The biggest F1 blog in Brazil wrote a piece on Monza more or less saying Lewis was the re-incarnation of Senna. No-one has ever been more convonced about Lewis than me but I am amazed that in Brazil they are comparing him to Senna. One guy even said he looks forward to the day Lewis races with Bruno Senna but dreads making the choice of which to support.
I never thought I would find a Brazilian who would compare anyone to Senna.
Wow, they do like him a lot then
What I can not figure out is why does everyone think that Barrichello should have the door opened for him and asked to leave when button should be throw out a top floor window.
And then Honda can start looking for a replacment. I mean Button is not Japanese. You can not shame into hara-kari but ssuggesting whtat we Honda can get better results with Taki Inoue, for example.
RE: Jordan
Good point on Button, after all Barichello has more points this year then Button. The only thing that concerns me with him is Button's contract is more concrete in terms of the length and money that than Barichello. Might create more problems then it is worth.
@ Steven Roy;
Good job on the column about the IRL BTW on f1 pitlane.
On the critical non-critical British press angle there were several headlines in Mondays papers which were "Lewis loses".
That really wasn't the story of the weekend. That was pandering. Sometimes Lewis losing is news because he might lose while his rivals are way ahead. But that didn't happen.
The story was Vettel. End. Of.
Morning all,
Jonny N and I were lamenting that other people are now going to actually bother to turn up to Der Seb's open press calls now. It's the end of an era.
Shame!
Morning Stuart.
Thanks Dan.
The thing that amazes me is that everything I discuss in it happened in the space of two weeks. Had the various bits and pieces been more spread out I would robably have treated each as an isolated incident. Since I wrote the article I have found out that Moto GP and the other classes are streamed at
www.bbc.co.uk/sport . This apparently includes all practise and qualifying sessions. I guess this bodes well for F1's channel switch next year.
Glad you liked the article.
please note, i link to the following article only to wind up rich :)

it's probably all misquoted tosh, but a few choice cuts from the man this morning:
"I’m a fighting force."
"I am not messing around doing stupid things just keeping myself nice and quiet and doing everything right."
"Morally, I think I deserve the title..."
ahh, he brightens up my day.
hahahaha you stirrer Me!
On the Bruno Senna thing, I suspect that Toro Rosso will try to get him to be their tester and combine it with another GP2 season, but find an excuse to sack whichever race driver is doing worse mid-season to make way for him. Starting in the middle of a season is a lot less pressure than stepping in at the beginning because everyone expects a substitute to be worse than the driver being replaced, at least at the beginning. By 2010, Bruno would have definitely found his feet (assuming he's not worse than Piquet Jr!) and will surprise people in the same way as Robert Kubica and Sebastian Vettel did in 2007.
It's not exactly as if Squadra Toro Rosso have never sacked a driver mid-season before, and I can't imagine Gerhard Berger would be keen to see his mentee in another team unless he seriously believes that there will not be a buyer for Squadra Toro Rosso's other 50%.
just thinking about it and drawing from my historical knowledge, this season is I think the first time since 1995 where we’ve had at least 3 new winners in the season: {Scott Woodwiss - 121 comments ago}
Scott, there were three new winners in 2003 as well (Raikkonen, Fisichella and Alonso). Still, three new winners in a season is a very rare occurrence.

By the sound of it, Sebastian is a good person to interview (I'm going by Martin Brundle's effusive praise of Sebastian's media conduct towards the end of the race), so hopefully he'll continue to be just as charming when the massed ranks of the media decide he's interesting.
Bit unfortunate for you, though, because I imagine you and Johnny N got some interesting exclusive snippets from the Vettel sessions.
This made me laugh, in an interview on Autosport Jonathan Noble and Giorgio Ascanelli:
Q. Is it possible to compare the feeling you have to win a race with Toro Rosso as to that of winning with McLaren or Ferrari in the past?
GA: It is like sex. It is never as good as the first time. When sex is good, it is very good. When sex is bad, it is still pretty good! That sums it up pretty much.
:D
