    Hi Christine;
Great pod-cast, but... Fettel is actually right. In German, W is pronounces like the English V, and V is pronounced like the English F. As Volkswagen should be pronounced "Folksvagen", so Vettel should be pronounced "Fettel".

only post-event, we were recording at the time.

from what i can see (based on official video and footage from f1zone.net), the drivers had a fantastic time, really enjoying themselves and it's good to see schumi smiling.

but where were all the people? it looks like they sold about 10pc of the available tickets. i know wembley is a big venue, but it's not that big. last year was much more popular wasn't it?

the question is, was it the venue, the promotion or the fact it was on tv that caused people to stay at home?

I say it was the fact Lewis wasn't there. Hahaha! It being in Britain and all.

And in a McLaren-related bit, the Renault December 6 hearing transcript is out. Have you managed to get a peek at it, Christine?

77 bloomin' pages of faxed typeface? yeah, we've seen it. more on that soon.

    Me,

I think its time the flag was nailed to the mast: and if Sidepodcast is to be sponsored by Red Bull...I need to inform the possible drinkers of this foul stuff that it tastes worse than Tsampa blended with Yak dung!

Don't drink it, its made from boiled up Russians and hydrochloric acid....

    Me,

Out here in the great Satan, when an event is scheduled for TV, and they don't have a full house: they have what they call a "Blackout" and they can cancel the television if they want to.

I've not actually seen it happen for a while, although there were a few braves baseball games blacked out a while ago.

Ummm, regarding Tsutomu Tomita, Christine was obviously being very tactful when criticised for getting the name the wrong way round. She must know that the Japanese actually put surnames first and, err, first names last. To complicate the issue, they also sometimes swap their names around to conform to western custom and so avoid being called by their surnames all the time. I think everyone involved in F1 has done this, so we would be correct to yell, "Oi, Takuma!" when trying to attract Mr Sato's attention.

Anyway, I wish to congratulate Christine for being so patient with her colleague's lack of knowledge on this score - it was true class to pretend to being embarrassed by her so-called error. ;)

    here's the thing.

we pronounce vettel with a 'V' because we're english and we say japanese names... oh wait, i'm confused now.

his westernised name is Tsutomu Tomita, right? and as Christine is english then calling him anything else is still wrong, right?

just looking at the pics on your site, you captured the moment perfectly.

Given that I don't know or understand which way round his name should go, regardless of whether I said it right or not, means I probably do owe him an apology.

But, he won an award, so he shouldn't be too upset about it :)

Just a joke, guys, a chance to pull Sidey's leg a bit and ingratiate myself with Christine. Although it's true that the Japanese have their names the other way round. And now I've confused myself so much that I can't remember which way is which with the guy's name...

hehe, well that's blown any chance of sponsorship right out of the water now. thanx.

it's a good product for podcasting though, a much appreciated energy boost.

they have what they call a "Blackout" and they can cancel the television if they want to.

that sucks, please don't inform bernie, whatever you do.

    Me,

    Oooops, sorry.

"Red Bull" the drink of champions, even has a sugar free, low carb version!

"that sucks, please don’t inform bernie, whatever you do."

That's what happened with the two North American races. They were blacked out from being shown live, and shown on a different channel from Speed TV.

Now: I have to point out that it differs with so called "markets", of which there are several here in Atlanta alone. What I got, might be totally different from what someone in North Atlanta, or Ohio might have got.

And: you're very right, it sucked the big wazoo.
