Come In Number 7, Your Time Is Up

I don't know if you're aware of this or not, but I have a bit of a crush on Jenson Button. I try not to draw attention to the fact, you know, it's probably one of our best-kept secrets.

Ha.

Anyway, I've invested quite a lot of time and emotions in the man, bought a Honda hat, supported his crazy contract-switching antics, all that stuff. It hasn't really worked out so well for me or for him. He's only won the single Grand Prix, and let's be honest, that was mostly circumstance, some luck, and only a bit of the talent that I know he has in there somewhere. This year, it's just ridiculous. I don't mind supporting people through the bad times, I'm not one of those fair-weather fans, glory-seekers who only support whoever is winning. But there comes a point when you have to think, maybe it's time to move on.

The guy can't even win a bicycle race, for crying out loud.

So, I've been looking around, weighing up the statistics, checking out the options... alright, I went to Goodwood. And I saw this.

Franck Montagny

He's pulling a silly face, but that Franck Montagny... he's a bit of alright. So, here's where I need a bit of help. I'm not very good at the whole predictions thing. I can't work out who is going to be moving where and what team they'll be driving for. I consider it to be a bit like a game of chess, at which I am also lacking skill. If this guy goes here, then that person will get a drive, and he'll do this, and they'll move there. I just can't think that many theoretical steps ahead. But I know that my lovely faithful readers can, and so I ask a favour.

Can you tell me if Franck Montagny is going to get a race drive any time soon? Because I do not want to start investing in him, if it's going to depend on some serious chess-playing. It doesn't have to be this year or even the next, because for this face...

Franck Montagny

...I can wait!

[But not that much longer, because the one thing working against him is that he is two years older than Jenson. It's a race against time, people!]

You might be in luck.... isnt Half Schumacher on his way out of Toyota soon? Lets hope so I am fed up with him!

I can't see Franck getting a full time drive again (erm, not that he ever really had one in the first place, mind). It's quite sad to say, but his talent has been missed by those who decide who goes where.

Ralfie is probably going, and if it is at the end of the season, I would presume Toyota have a plan as to who will replace him, and I doubt it is Montagny. More likely Nakajima to keep the bosses and sponsors happy. (I did hear a rumour about Sato switching, but I think he owes Honda a fair bit, you know, for like creating a whole new team just to save his career and all!) However, if Ralf is P45'd mid-2007, then Franck might get the seat until the end of the year.

Sounds like I have even more reason to want Ralf to get the hell out.

It's not abnormal for a test driver to attend a press conference though. Admittedly the timing is very interesting, but Ralf has been assured a drive in France, the world have been told this and if Toyota back out, now, on Thursday at the earliest, that would be just wrong. But I think Franck would serve Toyota well for the rest of the year. He drove the Aguri pretty well last year.

Why has 'Fronck' got his shades on upside down in the bottom photo? Is it a sign that he bats...
...forget it, I'm off to bed.
